Chapter 14

Mephiles POV: (Gahhh i'll get to someone else's pov other than Brutus or mephiles soon XD)

The first part of my plan is completed. I've gotten all the girls into my grasp. It wasn't even a challenge really. It was either the parents didn't get there on time or they were just asleep. Even if the crime isn't found tonight, people will notice they're gone in the morning. 

After that silly human called me Shadow, I've also gotten a new plan in mind too. Basically, I'm going to sit back and watch as Shadow is taken away into custody for the kidnaps he 'supposedly' did. Since Shadow won't be there to protect his loved one, it will give me the chance to talk and persuade her into coming with me. And if she doesn't come with me, oh I'll just 'take' her. Of course I'll still hold the other girls for ransom to get the chaos emeralds. I'm certainly not going to let her get away. 

I fell back onto my bed and thought of the several kidnaps I did tonight. My tiredness was catching up with me now. I just wanted to sleep so the time would quickly pass by. I wanted her mine already. 

I drifted into sleep to the pleads of the girls below in the dungeon.

*In The Morning*

Brutus POV: 

Suddenly, the darkness is gone. I'm blinded by the light that now surrounds me. I shield my eyes as they adjust to it. Once they did, I see I'm standing on some cloud type ground. It moves with the light breeze that you can barely even feel. The pain that was once in my leg is now gone.There is no hole were it penetrated me. I'm completely healthy. 

"Brutus!"

"Daddy!"

I turn around to see my wife and son who are walking to me. They look like they haven't aged at all and still had the same clothes on the day they died. Thomas was in his soccer uniform, holding the soccer ball I got for him so he could practice. His short brown hair and eyes still gave me a happy feeling. Sara had on her favorite light blue blouse and denim shorts. Her long blond hair almost looked like it had a glow to it.

Tears started to brim the edges of my eyes. "S-sara? Thomas?" I hugged them with open arms and warm heart. I couldn't believe I could be able to actually see them again. We all finally let go of each other after awhile. "How is this possible? Wait... am I... dead?"

"Well, you almost did. It's not your time yet, though. I just needed to talk with you..." She paused.

"What is it?" I asked

"I don't want to see you grief over us anymore, Brutus. We're in a better place so you don't need to worry. I want you to move on with your life. Find someone to be with again."

"B-but Sara your the only one I love. I just can't-"

"Brutus," she held the sides of my face with her hands," please... I can't watch you suffer anymore..." Her bright blue eyes stared into mine. I looked over to Thomas, who was staring at me too, and looked back at Sara.

"Okay...I'll do it for you guys." We both gave a slight smile to each other. Slowly, we started to move closer and my arms started to hug her thin frame. Finally, our lips collided together. I didn't want to leave my family or find someone else to be with, this was my family. But I know I have to someday. 

"Ewwwwww"  Thomas covered his eyes and looked away. We let go of each other and laughed.

Then I started to loose my grip as her body started to fade away. I looked over to Thomas, he was doing the same. "N-no, please don't go.."  My heart started to feel empty again. I didn't like this feeling at all.

"I'm sorry Brutus, your waking up. We will always be there, no matter what situation. We love you..."

"I love you too..." I whispered to myself as they completely vanished from my sight.

Then the light around me started to get brighter. It got to the point were I had to shield my eyes again.

Now instead of black, it all went white...

*Back To Real World*

I loudly gasped for air with all my lungs as I woke up. I quickly sat up and looked at my surroundings to see if i was back in the real world. By the looks of it, I was in a hospital room. I sighed in relief. I then felt a hand on my shoulder. 

"Brutus, what's wrong." 

"Hmm," I looked over to see my partner for the case, Lukas Williams, "oh, Lukas, it's just you. I-i'm fine, just a little startled is all." 

"Oh okay, you got me worried there for a second. Just sit back, you need to rest." I laded back and rested my head on the pillow. The top of the bed was on angle so I wasn't laying completely flat. 

Lukas had short dirty blond hair and light blue eyes. His skin was a bit pale and was easily in his late 20's. He was wearing a black work suit with a dark purple tie. He was sitting in a chair right next to the bed.

I looked up towards the ceiling and closed my eyes. "How long was I out for?"

"Not for long. It's only the next morning. About...8:00 o'clock. But last night, before you got shot, some kidnappings had been reported. That's what they called you for."

"How many?"

"Exactly 4. All girls. Also all in the same grade. When we interviewed one of the girls parents, they said they saw a "talking animal" take their daughter. So I decided to show them a photo of 'Shadow the Hedgehog' and they said it was what took their daughter. So we have another lead on the case."

I started to remember what happened last night. Then It hit me. Shadow shot me while he was kidnapping the girls.  My eyes shot open. "I need the phone."

"Um okay," he handed me the phone that was on the nightstand beside him, "may I ask why?"

"I just need to call some one. Can I be alone for a second?"

"Yeah sure. I need to head back to the office anyway. Give me a call if you need anything." He got out of his chair and left the room. I quickly dialed the comander's number.

"Hello?"

"Commander! We've been reported about 4 kidnappings last night. We showed one of the parents a photo of shadow and they said it was him who did it."

"What? Slow down. How?"

"I don't know sir. But last night I also got shot by what I think was shadow."

"Are you sure?"

"I think. Who else could it be?"

"Okay I'll think of a plan to arrest Shadow."

"Thank you. Also check if Raven or any of the girls are there. I'll send you pictures of what they look like."

"Okay. I have to go. Commander out."

I hung up the phone and looked around for my cell phone. I had a hospital gown on so I didn't have it on me. I looked in the night stand and found it in the drawer. I sent the photos that Lukas sent me about 3 hours ago. 

I wondered what my leg looks like now.

I flipped the blanket over just enough to see my leg. It  was sewn together with the sides of hole. It wasn't big or anything, but it hurts bad. I covered it back up with the blanket and sat back once more. 

What's actually going on in this case?
