Brutus POV:

I am suddenly awaken from a deep sleep by the ringing of the phone and a giant crash of thunder. Who would be calling me at 1 in the morning? I groan as I reach over to the night stand and pick up the the phone. "Hello?"

"Agent Brutus? This is the police. I think we have another lead for you on your case. I think you should come down to see this."

"Alright, alright. I'll be right there." I slam the phone down on the bed and sat back for a second to think.

What could it be now?

I got up and went to the closet to pick out a suit. The one I picked was all black but with a white under shirt and a dark blue tie.

After I got dressed, I grabed my car keys and cellphone-I stuffed it into my coat pocket-and headed out the door into the pouring rain. I could barely see straight through the rain as I unlock my car doors and get in the driver's seat.

I slightly adjust the rear view mirror and see my soaking short brown hair, almost looking black because of the rain, and my dark green eyes that even I can tell look depressed, despite my slight smile thinking about getting a lead on this case.

Then I remember why why they look like that, trying to hide all the sorrow from the past. I don't think I'll ever trust myself again or forget it.

Then the memory started flooding my mind....

*Flashback to 4 years ago, July 14, 2010* Brutus POV:

I entered the car with my beautiful wife, Sara, and my eager 7 year old son, Thomas, and start the car to be on our on way to his championship soccer game. He was practically jumping all over the car, which made Sara laugh.

I pulled out of the driveway and just thought of how lucky I was to have such a perfect family with me right now. I was almost as enthusiastic as Thomas was to see the turnout of this game because he has been practicing for so many days.

He plays for a YMCA leauge on the "red" team. They're versing the "blue" team in the 7-8 year old leauge. This was the last game of the season, and the game that decided the winner of all of the four teams.

Suddenly, Thomas screamed and I looked back in panic, but he was just playing with his toy cars. I turned back around when I heard Sara shout. "Brutus!" At that same moment, a giant semi-truck pulled out in front of me, causing me to swerve to the left in shock. Now having the right side of the van slam into the truck, killing Sara and Thomas. Well, I didn't know that at the time.

We all got rushed to the hospital immediately, and the doctors pulled me into a room on a stretcher, when all I'm thinking at the moment is how Sara and Thomas are. I pass out, not remembering anything after that.

*3 Hours later*

I wake up in a hospital bed, unsure of what had happened, but just having this feeling that I needed to know where my wife and son were. A nurse walked in, unaware that I was awake, until I almost shouted "Excuse me?" She was completely startled, but turned around, put on a friendly smile, and said "You're awake? How are you feeling?" I replied, "Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. Where's my wife and son? What happened?'

She took a second before answering,
"... Don't you remember anything?" "No, nothing at all." I answer truthfully. She takes a deep breath and says "Well you were in brutal collision with a semi-truck on East Street when you swerved right into it." I swallowed the lump in my throat before asking in a worried tone, "What about my wife and son?" The nurse looked as if she was terrifyed to answer the question. "They, they passed away sir...I'm sorry."
