Year 0: No Turning Back

Batman

Every member that wasn't in metropolis watched as ash filled the sky and every hero that was in the city was now gone forever.

"Jesus fucking christ," said Batman "what have you done." the disbelief could be heard in his voice.

"Wow I didn't think it would be that big," replied Joker.

Damian immediately got on the phone trying to contact his team members that were still in the city but to no avail.

"Oof seems like your boy over there had some friends in the city. I sure hope you didn't have any family there as well." continued the Joker before being punched by Batman and thrown into the batmobile.

Batman drove back to Arkham Asylum. The drive there was quiet. Damian seemed dejected from reality seemingly unable to process what had happened.

"Damian are you ok?". Damian remained unresponsive "Your friends could still be alive there's no need to."

"-They're dead. Every one of them. They were still in the city when the bomb went off." replied Damian with a dead tone.

"How do you know."

"I know."

Batman's heart felt heavy knowing his son's friends were dead.

Superman

Superman had finally arrived back on earth. He was carrying Lois's dead body. Neither she nor the baby was alive.

Wonder woman approached Superman. His face dripped with tears. "Oh, my god. Clark...This isn't your fault it was the madman who caused this."

"Could you please hold her? Keep her safe."

"Of course."

"I'll be back."

"Wait where are you going?" she asked as Superman took off. 

Superman continued flying before being encased by Green Lantern.

"Hal what are you doing," said Superman agitated.

"Stopping you. You are emotional right now. You are acting on emotion rather than logic."

"Hal please let me go. This is your last warning." said superman in a calm eerie voice.

"Tell me where you're going. Let me go with you, I can help." Superman closed his eyes almost regretting what he was about to do next. With a single punch, he smashed through Hal's construct sending him back, and before Hal could react Superman took his ring.

Hal began screaming trying to contact Batman about Superman but it was too late. Clark had already taken Hal's earbud and had gently taken him to the ground.

"Clark please, don't do something you're going to regret."

"I already have," he said flying off. Meanwhile, Batman was interrogating the Joker.

Batman

"Why? It's always been between us, why did you have to get Superman involved?"

"Because you always win and I was tired of losing, but to be honest it was a little too easy." these were the last things the joker said before superman came crashing through the wall. Without saying anything he walked toward the Joker. However, Batman stepped in between them.

"Clark no! Don't do this-" Batman was interrupted as Superman pushed him back sending him flying into the wall. Damian quickly rushed in to see Superman holding Joker by the throat.
