We arrive at the front of Vincent's house twenty-four minutes later. I check my rear-view mirror to see Vincent. He's fallen asleep. Still breathing. Still alive. Good. I check myself too. I still look too much like a fox than a hybrid. I let out a heavy breath, releasing all my anger, relief, my pain, and tension from my body. I close my eyes and focus.

Just one more time. One more time and I will not do it again. Whatever happens next will be on me. I control my life. I control this body. I control this. I control this.

I focus my energy on my body. Forcing my snout to disappear, my ears to look more natural, my eyes less like a predator ready to kill and dim the gold in them. I calm down and try to relax as much as I can. I open my eyes and look up to catch my reflection in the glass. I look as normal as I can be, for now. I take one last glance at Vincent before leaving him locking in my car. I walk up to the front door of his house and knock in it. Vincent's mother opens the door.

"Have you found my son? Is he still alive? Where is he? Is he safe?" She asks quickly.

I tense up at her words, "Your son, Vincent, is safe, but I need you to come with me to a safer location. Don't worry about your belongings, I'll make sure their safe. Please just come with me for now. Your son is waiting in my car. He's asleep."

She sighs a sigh of relief and follows me. I can feel myself losing my grip on my appearance. I guide her into the backseat where Vincent is sleeping, and she holds her sleeping son like a new born child. I grab my cap from the passenger seat and put it on. Just before she is able to see my ears. Just in time.

"Where are we going? You said we were going to a safer location, but where?" Vincent's mother whispers.

"Somewhere safe. I promise I won't try to harm you or your son. We're going somewhere with more protection and people to look after you at all times." I reassure.

She nods. I drive to the Cage. Bruce won't have a choice. He'll know what happened. He'll know what to do to help. Mary will be against it, but there is nothing she can do. I'm not doing this for me or for her. I'm doing it because it's the right thing to do, especially after what they both went through. I can't leave them alone just yet. I drive up to the front door. It's quiet. I can hear the footsteps coming closer to the door but stopping before the door. There's Bruce, two servants who I think are Kayla and Delilah, Greg, Dominic and...Mary? Why her? Whatever. I park the car and cut the engine. Vincent's mum stares in the house in awe.

Like mother like son. Huh.

I walk round the car to get Vincent off his mum. I sling his arms over my shoulders and drag him through the open door. Bruce is in a state of shock and confusion. Mary is disgusted. As for Greg and Dominic, well, what can I say?

"Did you save that dead guy on your back? So cool! Isn't she mum? Isn't she the coolest? Wow, I can't believe you're my sister." Dominic says beaming with excitement.

"Too loud Dominic. Bruce, I need a change of clothes for Ms Kitsune here. Kayla, I need you to run a warm rose water with lemon and lavender bath. I don't want the lemon smell. I need the lavender to smell not too strong either. Delilah, go prepare my room for two people please. Greg can you go into the kitchen and get last night's dinner out and clean some rice. Dominic, there's clothes in my art room. you know where it is, when you find it and bring it up to my room then help Delilah. Mary, stay seated or better yet go to your room. I don't want you anywhere near the others while they are doing their jobs." I order while dragging Vincent up the stairs to my room.
