WRITER'S NOTE: SO SORRY FOR THE LATE UPDATE, I'VE BEEN BUSY WITH SCHOOL. I HAVE A FEW EXAMS AND TESTS COMING UP SO I APOLOGISE IN ADVANCE IF I FORGET.

VINCENT:

Ring! Ring! Ring! Ring! Ring! Ring! Ring! Ring! I run. Run to the get to the shoe lockers first. To get out of school before anyone sees me, but as always, I'm caught by the teacher.

"You wanted to speak to me, Miss Teneta?" I ask tentatively.

"Yes, I was just wondering how your tuition was going with Alluro." She says curiously.

"It's going fine. We've started going through some of the homework together." I hesitate.

"Okay, well as long as you are keeping up your grades, attendance will be easy to maintain too. That's all, you may leave."

I thank her and leave. By time I rush down to the shoe lockers, everyone else is there. So, I wait. I wait until my locker aisle is free. I slip my feet into my shoes and dash out the doors. As I run down the stair, there's a familiar deep midnight purple car parked in front of the stairs. The passenger seat window rolls down.

"Get in." A female voice orders, "If you don't then I'll take you by force."

I listen and get into the car quickly. She takes off before I have my seat belt on.

"Where are we going?"

"This isn't the way to my house Alluro. You know that don't you?" I say quietly looking at her to see her response.

I let out a little gasp. She's still wearing a beanie and black sunglasses, as well as black pants and a long sleeve shirt. It's relatively warm today. How can she be okay like this? Her car isn't too cold nor is it hot. Unless she's doing that to hide her injuries. Did she injure herself recently? She looks on edge. What the hell happened to her? She drives through the city taking shortcuts and the scenic route. All these building belong to the government who has input from the royal family of Rayloss. The royal family. Royalty. I wonder what that feels like. To live free without having to worry about a cent or every dollar spent. You could have the biggest room with servants doing your chores for you. Servants. Doesn't Alluro have servants in her house? She does. So, is she secretly part of the royal family or can anyone have servants? I stare out the window as we pass other cars on the road.

I wonder where she's taking me. I've never been to the city, so why would she bring me here? All the other animals are here, so why aren't we being stared at? It's like we're invisible or something. I mean, her car is by far the coolest, but they don't seem to notice it. I want to ask her, but she doesn't look happy. I'll just leave it for another time.

"What is it? I wouldn't care about the royal family, or the fact that people think we're invisible. We're not invisible, they're just too busy to notice a car. The royal family doesn't care about what happens in their country. As long as they have land to rule they're satisfied." Alluro reply bluntly.

"So, you're not part of the royal family, then? I was just curious seeming that you have servants like the royal family does." I ask hesitantly.

"Who would want me on the throne? It's not my house either. It's Bruce's. He's the CEO of the biggest tech company on Rayloss. What did you expect he do with all the money he makes? Spend it all on his family? He doesn't have one."

I look down at my feet. "Oh, right. Sorry I asked."

"Why?" She questioned.

"Why what?" I breathe out with a smile.

"Why are you sorry? It was just a question." She retorts with the tiniest hint of humour in her voice.

"Oh, you just looked so angry I thought I did something wrong, so I didn't want to annoy you. Is there something wrong, Alluro? You'd tell me if there was right? Alluro?" I look up at her.

There's a pause before she answers. "I'm fine."

She pulls onto the highway leading away from the city and back into suburbia towards the side where I live. We drive in silence until we get back to my house. As she pulls over to the curb, my mother opens the front door to wait for me.

"Thanks for the lift, Alluro." I thank.

I turn away from the car to walk through the front gate when I hear a window pull down.

"I won't be able to pick you up from school for the next few days. I need to get a few things done before the final test drive at the Racehouse." She says leaning towards the window.

I nod. She leaves.

"Who was that Vinnie? Was it a school friend?" My mum asks cheerfully.

"She's a school friend. She's helping me with the work since my grades aren't all that good." I reply hugging her.

"Oh okay, Vinnie. If she is a good person, I have nothing against her coming over to our house and spending time with us. Why do you invite her over tomorrow?"

"She's busy, but maybe another time mum. Come on, let's go in."

We walk in and get dinner ready. My mum leaves once we've eaten to the 'house' where all the men go. I kiss her goodbye and send her off at the front gate. It's a quiet house once she leaves. So quiet you can hear a pin drop. I don't like it being this quiet, but I have to deal with it. I clean up the house and settle down on the sofa. I turn the television and flick through the channels. It's boring. I can feel myself falling asleep. I remember turning off the lights and TV before falling onto the couch and falling asleep.
