HTD – Human Trafficking Department (refer to Chapter 13)

People who get to close to me, always get hurt or end up dead. That's what happened with Lujane. She knew what I was and when she did, it was only a matter of time before she rejected me.

Darius is only alive because he didn't care if I was alive or dead and more importantly, he didn't know who I was.

Bruce, kind of has an idea but he likes to call me special or gifted not so much cursed.

The Captain of the HTD has placed Bruce, Mary, and the twins under protection of the department because of what I do for them. It's dangerous if they ever get caught in our operations or anything. It's also another way for me to make sure that he doesn't die. There was one boy, Osiris knew him too, who confessed his love to me. I was still young and had no idea who I was and what I could do, so I agreed to start a relationship with him. Maybe because I was lonely, but I never admitted it. There was an accident at house one day and he was sent to the hospital. He went to sleep one night and never woke up. He's been asleep ever since. It's been sixty-seven moons since then, which is roughly five years and 7 months. All because he fell in love with me. I never tried to find love again. His family blamed me once they found out he was friends with a fox. Of course, they blamed me for brainwashing their child, but that wasn't what happened. There's no point in trying to explain. This is all because I must inherit the Spirit Fox before I turn nineteen. I only have two years left and four transitions to go. These transitions are supposed to happen while I'm in Hell with Shaide so I can absorb as much power as I can, but I had to go through some of them while on the living side of the Gate. There's less power on the living side which is Earth. I can't have any earthly connection holding me down, that's why they die when they get to close to me. In one of my past lives, I had a friend who ended up being torched alive on a stake just because they touched me. No friends, no lovers. That much I have understood in this life.

"The place I'm taking you too will show you what really happened. Most of the story you know, but the stuff about the cursed fox is false," I explain, "the path to this place isn't exactly smooth seeming as you are still alive. If you weren't exactly living, it would be easier to take you, but I can't have you dying so I won't be doing that. You need to make sure that you never stray away from me, as soon as you do, there's a very small chance of you surviving. Are you sure you still want to know the truth?"

"Yes, I want to learn the truth, because it appears to be one of the conditions to loving you that you have set." He jokes.

"Alright, now repeat after me. Envelop in flames as cold as hell,"

"Envelop in flames as cold as hell," He repeats.

"It burns within, and shall change"

"It burns within, and shall change"

"My feeble body to become one, with Hellfire."

"My feeble body to become one, with Hellfire."

As soon as the verse ends, the Hellfire I have been channelling in my body explodes into his, creating an indestructible bond.

"You should feel a little strange if not colder. It's to do with the Hellfire that's coursing through your body. If you let go it can be very dangerous, especially since you have never experienced Hellfire before and what it can do. If I had left traces of it in your body from earlier this wouldn't have been necessary, but I didn't. Shall we?"

The story that's told in history classes isn't far from the real thing. Only, the Gods aren't as kind as they seem. They were the ones who did this to me. The cursed fox's real name was Samuel. Samuel Tavarius. The Gods fooled him. The Gods were always jealous of the demon race. They didn't have to rely heavily on the humans and other animals. If they wanted something, they would do it on their own accord. The Demon King didn't care. One day during one of the many quarrels, the Gods took one of the demon knights and brainwashed it to have a child with an animal. That resulted in the birth of Samuel Tavarius. The Gods knew about this but did not intervene, until the day Samuel was eighteen. They promised Samuel great fortune and respect if he were to successfully get rid of the demon race. Samuel agreed to wiping out the demons who had done him wrong. Samuel killed only two demons. He didn't see the point in killing them all if it was only two who had hurt him. The Gods didn't understand what he did so they burnt a village to the ground. Samuel's village. He went to the Gods about this, and they told him it was the demons who did it. To Samuel, he didn't know what was right or wrong anymore. He was too enraged to care. The war that ended all had begun. At the end of the war, Samuel realised what he had been ordered to do. He challenged the Gods and everyone else who had been left alive that wanted Samuel dead. They were already under the Gods influences. He was cursed to eternal reincarnation and shame on his breed. He lived until he was nineteen. His last words:

"We fox, are the strongest of animals and we will one day prove to you, that history is controlled by us. You will all live to regret the day we rewrite history."

That task now falls in my hands. I will be the one to rewrite history. I know this because, I am the only fox that was born with the full set of memories from all my past lives. Every fox before me, has only ever seen their past life's death. I have seen everything. So, then who is Shaide? Shaide, is me. All my past lives as one being.

"Still have any questions about the story? You've seen every memory of mine connecting me to the cursed fox from the very start. Every reason why not to love me because you end up dead. Every reason why I stay alone. What I did back then, it doesn't get any easier."

"But you didn't do that, Ally. You aren't Samuel or Shaide. You're Ally. The gift of God." Vincent says exasperatedly.

"The Gods are selfish. After the war, they locked the doors to Heaven, there is no Heaven only Hell. Even then, all the dead souls call it Heaven which I think is absurd."

"Dead souls? Is that where you've been for the past five days? In Hell?"

"Time works differently there. I don't know exactly. It felt like I was gone for so much longer. The sun doesn't rise for a long period and then suddenly sets, and it turns to night. I would've been gone longer if I hadn't left before the sun came up."

"I don't want to know what you were doing there, but it sounds annoying. If Lujane died, wouldn't that have meant you saw her in Hell?"

"I don't know how long she's been dead for and even if I escorted her, I wouldn't have known it was her and she wouldn't have recognised me. They appear as glowing bodies, not so much as humans. The only thing you can tell is if they are male or female depending on their voice."

"Wow. You spend five days in Hell, and you don't even care to tell me that's where you went?"

"I'm sorry, I had a lot on my mind when I left."

"Ally, why didn't you tell me from the very beginning that you were the cursed fox?"

I hesitate and then reply quietly, "I didn't want you to leave me."

"Why me though, Ally?"

"Your scent."
