Chapter 12

NOTE: THERE ARE PARTS FROM CHATPER 10 (STUFF THAT HAPPENED AT WAREHOUSE 8) AT THE START OF THE CHAPTER.

VINCENT:

I can feel the chains holding my wrists above my head loosen. My chest hurts aches as something moves me and sends warm liquid sliding down again. I roan and manage to crack my eyes open only to see...

"Hey. What are you doing here? You're not supposed to be..." I say drowsily before seeing darkness once again.

I remember hearing sounds. Like fighting and tasering. Gasps. Gasps for air. I remember waking up to see a lot of animals just sitting around in shackles. All huddled up together. I'm not standing on my own either. Alluro is...hurt. She's covered in...blood. She's...hurt. Did she? Is that? What? How did I? How? What is going on? What is happening? Where are we?

"What happened? Where am I? Where am I Allu–" I say confused as I see faces staring at us.

"Snap. My name is Snap. You are being rescued from being transported as sex animals. Please follow me outside and stay close to each other. If you see anyone strange, I want you to scream. That way I will be alerted, and I will deal with them." Alluro says cutting me off.

We all walk outside. Alluro is carrying me...dragging me.

"Hey, I can walk on my own. You don't need to carry me." I insist quietly.

She doesn't let me go but she lets me walk alongside her, supporting me that is. We make it out without anyone screaming. A rabbit runs over to assist the one who can't walk. I'm tired but I have to stay awake. I must stay awake until I get back home.

"Cap, I'm taking this one with me. Just deal with the rest and transfer the money to my account. I'm leaving now." Alluro shouts aloud.

"Snap. You and he are both in need of urgent medical attention. Get yourself looked at! Now! That is an order!" Cap orders, "Do not dare defy me!"

I want to say something, but I don't have the strength.

The next time he says something like that, or anyone does, I am going to hurt them. The cannot and do not have the rights to order Alluro around. I don't care about me but not her. Anyone but her.

Alluro walks over to the waiting ambulances. They patch us up and we walk over to her car. I don't remember much after that. I remember being changed into clean clothes and driving off into the night. I caught a glimpse of the time. 10:50pm. Before falling asleep. The next thing I know I can faintly hear orders coming from a familiar voice but can't make out who it is. 

I feel warm and wet. Like I'm in water. I open my eyes and my mum is right there holding my hand and using a cup to pour water onto my shoulders.

"Mum? Where am I? How am I in a bathtub? This isn't home." I say quietly feeling a sharp pain in my head.

"Hey little Vin, how are you feeling? We're at Miss Taneta's house. She said we could stay for as long as we need to. I know it's not a good thing to stay for as long as we need but she insisted on staying. Just relax. She asked a servant to put lavender, lemon and rose water into your bath to help with your aches, pains and about everything else. It will help you." Mum says quietly.

"Miss Taneta?" I question.

"Yes, her sister said she saw your name and would help find you. You wrote her phone number on the note you left me this morning. It said that if you need help call this number and they will help you."

I nod. Strange. I didn't know Miss Teneta had a sister. I thought she was an only child. I don't remember writing a phone number on the note this morning either.

"How are you? I must have worried you sick. I won't ever leave you again. I promise. I promise you, mum. I promise." I say sincerely.

"You don't need to promise me anything and no you didn't worry me sick, because deep down I knew you would come back to me. You're my little fighter. You never, ever give up. You are so lucky to have inherited that strength from you father. Of course, I am strong, but you have the strength of a leader. Wherever he is now, I hope he is happy with the life he is living." My mum says moving to hug me.

I hug her back. "Yeah. Yeah."

We talk about how nice the house is until there is a knock on the door.

"Come in." My mum calls out.

The door open and in walks...Alluro?! She's Miss Teneta's sister? No, it's not true, it's a lie she told my mum just so she wouldn't question it. Why is she wearing a cap inside the house?

"How do you feel? Better?" She asks gesturing for my hand to check his pulse.

I stare at her while she checks my pulse. Why would she do this for us? I understand why she did it for me, but I didn't write the number on the note. Why?

"You look like garbage. Do you want to sit in this bath with me? It feels really good, and the water is still hot. Can I ask, is it Alluro or Akira?" I say trying to lighten the mood.

She dips the tips of my fingers into the water only to retract quickly.

"Either. I don't know what my name is, but if you want a name just call me Alluro. I'm fine, I don't need a bath. Ms Kitsune if you need to bath feel free to take one. There are fresh towels on the bench and a change of clothes for the both of you on the bed. I'll bring them into the bathroom for the both of you. There are meals waiting for the both of you on the desk. Vincent, when you're ready I need you to take the medicine. It will help with the pain."

She stands up only having to bend down to grip the side of the bathtub for support.

I sit up straighter in the bathtub to try to catch me in time and my mum moved to grab her waist but stopped when she grabbed the bathtub. She shakes her head and walks out of the bathroom.

I hope she's okay. She doesn't look too good. She looks sick. Is she sick? Or have I never seen her properly? Do I know her? What's she mean by 'either'? Why did she say that she didn't know her own name? It's Alluro. Amnesia, maybe? No, there's more to it than she'll say. I want to help her. I really do.
