I was stood behind the bar wiping down the counter and trying to look as casual as possible. In front of me stood a tall tanned man with black hair that was slicked back and dark brown eyes. He spoke with a strong Spanish accent and instead of wearing the uniform he wore just a white vest and long black trousers. Next to the man stood a sobbing lady with long blonde hair and sweet blue eyes. I felt sorry for the poor girl.

"I'm gonna miss you so much Mateo" she whimpered.

"Hey come on. No tears" he said with fake sympathy, "you're going to miss your plane".

I stopped wiping the counter so I could focus entirely on the scene happening in front of me. The girl fumbled around in her bag looking desperately for something. She withdrew a small piece of paper and placed it gently in the mans hand. "Call me tonight".

"My sweet, my love, I will call you every night".

The girls friend from behind the two suddenly
exclaimed, "come on we're gonna be late!".

"Do you love me?" The girl asked through her tears as she jumped into the mans arms. He looked shocked at her question.

"Hey come on..." he quickly unfolded the note she had given him "...Lisa". I smirked cheekily at that word and opened up a list I kept in my skirt pocket. I wrote the number 54 and then her name. I didn't bother listening to the rest because it was probably the man making up a load of bollocks that isn't true. When the girl and her friend had left the man jumped over the now clean counter and landed next to me.

I turned around and rested my back on the front of the bar. "Do you never feel like maybe you should actually call one of them poor women back?" I asked.

"I am not looking for commitment at the moment" he said shrugging sounding emotionless. I shook my head at my friends comment. He looked down at the note she had given him and he carelessly tossed it away.

"If you are ever looking for a good time you know where to find me" he said to me before walking of to serve some people. I frowned at him behind his back before shaking my head and smirking. He was a flirt and he would flirt with just about anyone so after 2 years I was used to his odd comment. I turned around and served the first person of the day.

Through out the day I saw some families leave as more came in one I'm particular I remember from last year as their child had done a turd in the pool and it had to be closed for the rest of the day. This time the family was with an older short tanned man. He seemed to be quite uptight from I could see. It did make me laugh though when he went for in the pool in leopard print thong. At one point he bent over in front of Mateo and he nearly fainted.

A bit later he began either teaching a man I recognised  from last year (the one who got very angry on quiz night) how to dive or having a diving completion with him. I watched from my position at the bar in between serving people. Every time the tanned man would do a perfect dive and the man from last year would either belly flop or do a flip.

It was quite enjoyable to watch until the tanned man didn't come back up. The other larger man shouted "Mel!" which I'm assuming was his name. One by one each of the people around began to notice and soon they were all in panic, especially he older woman in the wheelchair, who I think is called Madge.

I started to get worried to. It had been a good few seconds and he still hasn't come up. I looked for Mateo to see him unsurprisingly leaning over the bar flirting not even noticing the chaos.

"Mateo!" I shouted from where I was. As he turned to face me he noticed what was happening and leapt over the counter to help Mel. I'm not a very strong swimmer which was I didn't dive in myself. Instead i stood with the rest of the crowd. Mateo swan under the water and grabbed Mel and brought him to the surface. From either side of me I heard people talking about the situation. All of sudden o heard a shout.

"You fat idiot, what are you playing at? You've killed me husband before I've chance to marry him!". It was the tanned wheelchair women shouting at the man Mel was previously with. I felt bad for her even though she was one of the rudest people I've ever met. Mateo quickly reached the side of the pool with Mel in his arms. I was relieved to find there was no blood but scared because he was unconscious.

Me, Mateo and a man who I heard someone calling Mick all helped pull him out of the water. I heard the large man from before scream in pain suddenly but I was too busy helping Mateo out the water to see what happened. Janie appeared to get someone to ring an ambulance so I ran to the bar to get my mobile and rang for one.

When I put the phone down I looked up to see Mateo stood in front of a screaming women who was hear last year. The crowd was still gathered around Mel all trying to help him. Suddenly I heard a splash and saw that the screaming woman's husband had shoved Mateo back into the pool. I jogged over and laughed.

"Nice one mate," I said between putting my hand up for a high five. He took it but seemed reluctant. A very annoyed Mateo resurfaced once the couple had left. I bent down to his level. "You really do have a way with women," I remarked sarcastically as I offered him a hand.
