(Slightly shorter chapter)

18 year old Gaby stood, gazing up at the giant building in front of her. The walls were painted a sunny yellow and the word Solana was written in red along the side. It seemed very welcoming and a nice enough place to earn good money until she could find something more lasting.

Her first job, working at a fast food restaurant in Serville (her old city), hadn't ended well. A very rude man had been nitpicking things wrong with this burger. She had already given him a new one four times when he claimed the meat wasn't fresh enough. That's when she snapped.

She grabbed a burger bun and ran out the back of the restaurant to the bins. Once there, she found a small rat nibbling at the rubbish. With a bit of a struggle, she picked up the rodent and gently put it in the bun. She did feel bad for the animal but she be sure to feed it all the man's other burgers afterwards.

Then she marched back into the restaurant and over to the impatient man.

"Here is this fresh enough for you?" She had barked at him, shoving the rat burger in his face.

As you can imagine, she was promptly sacked and the restaurant also had to have a health inspection following the rat in the kitchen. It was her temper. It boiled and steamed inside her until eventually she popped.

She wondered if anywhere would even want to hire her with that event on her record however the manageress of the Solana (Janie) seemed to admire it more than anything.

"It's good to have someone with a bit of backbone dealing with these knobheads" is what she had said.

Even with that, Gaby had made a vow to keep her temper under control from now on. It was a new job, in a new city. Chance to start a fresh.

She pushed open the glass door and stepped into reception. It was quite quiet at the moment, which made sense as she had made a special effort to get there early at 7 (hope they won't get used to that). But it was very open. There was a small desk to her left and to her right was a large seating area with a fish tank, a bar and even a computer station. In front of her was a large staircase.

It had occurred to her just then that she didn't really know what she was doing or where she was going now. Janie had told her at the interview what the job involved but hadn't given her a schedule or even a map. There was no one except a few holiday guests in reception so she decided the best thing to do was to have a walk around.

Of course she had no idea where anything was so after a few wrong turns and dead ends, she ended up outside by the enormous pool. A few early rising guests were already seated in the sunbeds beside it. In the centre, there was a bar. Despite the size, Gaby couldn't see anyone with the Solana uniform on outside either.

Unknown to her, a tanned man with slick black hair had noticed her from over by the bar. He couldn't help but feel attracted to her. She looked so elegant and beautiful in the Spanish sun.

"Madre Mia" he breathed. He had to get to know her (if you know what I mean).
