And just like that it was summer again. Last summer a lot went down but over the year things luckily fizzed down a bit. Cyril had flown back to the UK after the pig incident. He had written to Joyce, asking her to go with him but she chose to stay here. I always knew she secretly loved us 😉.

Unsurprisingly, the photo with the Dutch dignitaries didn't bring more Dutch people over. This was a bit of a problem because Joyce had sort of overindulged in the Solana's budget, thinking Dutch guests would boost profits. This resulted in a lot of staff cutbacks. Luckily, all our gang kept their jobs but for the first month or so running on short staff lists wasn't easy.

Kenneth has had no more major medical problems since his heart attack and he's returned to his usual nocturnal ways. He's even invited me along a few times on my nights off. I paid for it in the morning but good God it was fun.

Now things with Mateo still aren't official. I was hoping that this would've changed by now but no. But I can't really force him into it. It's got to come naturally. I'm just getting slightly cautious that maybe he does only want to hop into my bed (not that I wouldn't let him). So as of right now, the heavy flirting is as far as we go.

Well that's everything so let's carry on.

Me and Mateo were on reception first thing. Usually, Joyce knew better than to put us both together alone but we were so short staffed so didn't have a choice today. But that didn't mean for one minute that we'd take pity on her and actually do work.

I had found a box of old leaflets for coach trips that we don't even do anymore so decided to do the appropriate thing as a grown adult. "Hey Mateo, fancy having a paper aeroplane competition?" I asked him whilst wafting the leaflets enticingly.

"Paper aeroplane? They do not sound very safe" he exclaimed. Once again this man baffled me.

"Well it's obviously not a real aeroplane" i told him with furrowed eyebrows. "Just a model made out of paper. Like origami" his face became even more confused then.

"Pepperami? I thought that was a spicy sausage stick" he asked. I sighed heavily and pinched the bridge if my nose. I liked this man but he didn't half make me want to throw myself down the stairs sometimes.

"Have you ever even made a paper plane?" I wondered.

"No" he admitted. He sounded almost ashamed and I can't lie, it was kind of cute. I gave him a soft smile.

"Well you're going to now. I'll show you" I handed him a leaflet and prepared myself to be a teacher. He eagerly took it and awaited my instructions. I felt so authoritative.

"Right first thing you need to do is fold it in half" he went to fold it in half landscape. "No the other way" I corrected him. He nodded in acknowledgment but then turned it 180 degrees so it was still landscape. I facepalmed. "No length ways" i impatiently took it from him and turned it the correct way.

"Ahh I see. This makes more sense" he chimed whilst folding it. This is kind of how the entire 'lesson' went. I now understood why he'd never made one before.

Eventually, he finished it and it looked pretty good. "Voila. Now you've made a paper aeroplane" I announced to him.

"This origami is fun" Mateo beamed at his creation. I've never seen him look so proud of himself. I couldn't help but think he looked really cute.

I bit my lip and smirked at him. That immediately caught his attention "What?" He asked with a grin.

"Nothing, you just look really adorable when you smile" I complimented as I continued to admire him.

He began to blush and smile more, which made him even cuter to me. Then he put an arm round my waist.

"And you look really adorable when you're telling me what to do" he flirted back winking at me.
