During the year Mel Harvey had sadly passed away leaving poor Madge a widow. Word spread around quickly and news reached the hotel come January (he died on Christmas). Now it was summer though. The busiest time of the year for the hotel which meant harder work more hours but also more pay so it evened out.

There were a few old faces but a few new ones who I hadn't seen before. Donald and Jaqueline had returned as usual of course. Gavin had returned but not with Troy. He had come with a large man with a bad haircut. Martin hadn't come this year nor had Geoff and his mum. There was also no sign of the Garveys yet but I assumed they would be coming soon to see Madge. In their places were two young girls one quite sweet looking and one who would happily punch a homeless man for a drink. A young man had also arrived. He was very pale and had ginger hair. He didn't seem to be the brightest spark. I was watching him from the bar playing in the pool with his ball like a sea lion. On top of the new guests Janie had told us that a new member of staff was joining us. Les. He hadn't arrived yet but Janie had arranged to pick him up later on.

When I walked through reception a while later I saw the Garveys minus their daughter and her son. Mateo was serving them which meant it could take awhile. I decided to just do what I needed to do and go back to the bar. Well that was my plan until Mateo called me over.
"Gaby!" He yelled at me from across reception. I looked at him and he beckoned for me to come over.
"What do you want?" I asked impatiently.
"These people want to know if we know where senora Harvey went to when she sold the Benidorm palace". I faced the family who were looking at me hopefully.
"Sorry folks I've no idea" I said apologetically. They all huffed. Suddenly a thought sparked in my mind. "Oh wait, there's a place around here called the El Crisne".
"The what?" Mick questioned.
"It's like a second hand market. I'm pretty sure I saw her there a few weeks ago" I explained to them. The trio quickly took of to their room and after a few seconds were back downstairs running out of reception. I sighed happily.
"I love being helpful" I stated before I went back to the bar outside.

Come the afternoon I was still outside behind the bar serving drinks. To be honest I couldn't complain I preferred doing drinks than working behind reception. Mateo and Janie had both joined me about an hour ago.
"Right Gaby Mateo I'll be back in 10 minutes" Janie told us
"Where are you going? We are too busy for just two people" Mateo moaned. It wasn't that busy really Mateo just likes having more people so he can slack off.
"Funny you should say that. That's where I'm going to get Les" Janie said.
"Who is Les?" Mateo asked as he manhandled a bottle of vodka.
"Have you listened to anything we've been saying for the past two days?" I asked him rhetorically. He gave me a look that said he still didn't know. "He's the new barman you div" I huffed.
"No you did not give the job to the little old guy with no hair please" Mateo begged to Janie. "You said the best one was that young girl" he pointed out falsely. I gave him a sceptical look.
"I'll think you'll find that was you" I said. Janie nodded in agreement.
"I know it seems strange but I thought I'd go for a more experienced barman with references as opposed to a dizzy 17 year old girl who can't add up". My eyes grew wide.
"Jesus 17! You've set your age restriction much lower" he shrugged.
"Oh there he is" Janie exclaimed looking towards the small bald man that applied here earlier in the week. He seemed sweet enough.
"Why does she need to add up? The drinks are free!" Mateo whined quietly to himself. Les happily skipped over to the three of us.
