You tried.

You truly did.

You had watched him countless times every morning and every evening. Observing the silver spoon between his fingertips rotate in short quick circles. You knew that he was specific about the way he made his tea and somehow it always intrigued you, so after watching his routine numerous times you saw yourself as an expert.

You never got the chance to make him a cup of tea. Nor did he ever ask for you to make him a cup. Before you could offer he would already be halfway into making one, exactly the way he liked it and he always included a mug for you despite the fact you never requested for one. It was just a simple gesture.

But today you wanted to surprise him.

So when you saw the rare scene of the dark haired man sound asleep next to you, you quickly took your chance and quietly crawled out of bed desperate not to awake him. An oversize shirt covered your body as you tiptoed to your shared kitchen, bare feet touching the cold tiles making you shiver slightly as the morning chill came over you.

You opened a cupboard and took out cups for the pair of you.

It was easy right?

Making tea is one of the simplest things in the world.

You made your way back to your shared bedroom, both hands carrying a mug, knuckles slightly burning up against the cup as you held them by the handle. Not long after you successfully made it to the bedroom without spilling a drop.

To your surprise the short figure was sitting upright in bed, the sunlight pouring through which illuminated his features.

"Oh you're awake." you mumbled as you wandered over to the bed and handed the cup to Levi before you sat down. You sat on his lap to which he slightly grumbled under his breath.

He raised a brow as you handed him the mug, "Tea?" he questioned softly, surprised that you went out of your way to make him a cup. You gazed over at his features, messy strands of jet black hair dropping over his face which was unusual to sight to see.

You hummed, "Well, I tried."

You were fairly curious to whether you made it correctly and what seemed like thousands of times watching him make tea you would've thought that magically the experience would pass down to you. Before you took a sip of the drink his voice stopped you "Why?"

You hummed in confusion at him, looking directly as the sun illuminated his grey eyes. He then again repeated, "Why would you make me tea?"

You paused for a second, not expecting that question from him, "Well why not? Did you think I put poison or something?"

A light snort escaped from him. He looked down with his finger circling the rim of the cup. "I wouldn't blame you if you did."

"Just drink the tea Levi."

You watched him closely as he slowly raised the cup to his mouth, a near invisible stream of smoke evaporating upwards as his lips slowly parted. You sat on his thighs taking in the moment, the peace and stillness of the morning. His features, simple and bare yet inviting and warm.

But just before the rim of the cup and his mouth made contact his gaze turned to you and he brought the cup back down.

He noticed you staring at him, "What? Do I have something on my face?"

You shook your head, "No."

"Then stop looking at me like that."

"Or what?"

"Don't test me." he warned, giving you a look before raising his cup again, you tried your best to hold back a laugh. He finally took a small sip and you watched as he swallowed the liquid down, eagerly waiting for his feedback.

You chewed on your lip as your eyes scanned his expression for any response, of course he remained composed and vague. You had to prompt him for a reply, "So...? How was it?"

He met eyes with you and paused, looking down at the cup and then back up at you again.

"Fucking disgusting."

Your face dropped, sure it wasn't perfect but that was the last response you hoped to get. You looked down at your own mug watching the steam escape upwards into the air as you started to feel disappointment wash over you. You raised a brow as you held up the cup to take a sip for yourself to taste, your eyes meeting with his impassive expression.

It only took a small sip for you to understand that Levi wasn't being harsh. It was truly horrible. You had no idea how Levi could swallow it instantly whereas you let out a small choke before letting the liquid sit in your mouth for a while before finally swallowing it.

"Shit, you're right." you whispered, looking down at the cup, questioning its contents.

Levi let out a sigh before poking at you, "Come on, let me show you the proper way to make tea."
