A quiet sigh left your mouth, accompanying the silence in the room as you scribbled away at your paperwork not even attempting to comprehend any of the words you were actually writing. It was automatic at this point. You'd been at it since dinner non-stop, the world of time forgotten as your office grew dimmer and dimmer. Nothing but a small candle to light up the sea of darkness.

Sulking in your seat you continued to ignore the stinging ache in your lower back before turning over another page. Your hand ached, thumb and finger indent from your pen along with little smudges of ink across the palm of your hand. You glimpsed up every now and then keeping an eye on the candle slowly beginning to burn out and transforming into a little stump.

You look over at your remaining pile of work, mindlessly estimating when you will finally get this all done. Maybe if you continued this pace then by 4am you could steal a couple hours of sleep. Pausing, you thought over your estimation, eyes skimming over the words you had written so far.

No...that wouldn't be enough time...maybe by 5 at least you could be- or maybe you could go without any sleep at al-

A knock at your door startled you out of your own thoughts.

You simply remained silent hoping that whoever was awake at this God forsaken time would just head back to their own quarters and assume that you'd already gone to bed, but almost in an attempt to mock your own thoughts yet another knock was at your door.

Another frustrated sigh escaped from your mouth as your body kept completely still but following the third knock you now had the idea of the stubborn bastard that was at your door.

Hoping to ignore the distraction you continued to write, slowly as ever as if you were in fear of making a mistake.

"I know you're awake." a muffled voice said on the other side of the door, "I can see your light."

Biting your lip in annoyance you announced for Levi to enter yet you didn't look up at him, instead you tried to indicate that you were hard at work and clearly showing that he was interrupting you. However your attempt to hide your fatigue and exhaustion failed as you already knew the sentence that was lingering in his mouth before he even had a chance to part his own lips.

"When was the last time you took a break?"

You scoffed and rolled your eyes as you replied, "I could ask you the same thing myself."

You still refused to make eye contact, attempting to delve yourself into your own mindless words.

"I'm taking mine right now." He answered, "Wanted to pay you a visit."

You hummed scribbling away merely acknowledging him. A deep pause entered the room with tension threatening to spill. It wasn't awkward yet there was still a taste of the two of you being hesitant, neither of you wanting to make the first move.

In a bid to concede with you, the raven haired finally spoke, "It's late, you should go to bed."

"I will soon" you lied.

He took a few steps towards your desk eyeing up the noticeably large pile of work you'd already completed earlier this evening.

"You've done more than enough." he announced.

"But I still have-"

"It can wait."

"But Erwin-"

""I'll deal with Erwin myself."

"Levi I can't-"

"Yes, you can. We've discussed this. Remember what I told you, nothing's going to happen to you with me taking care of you, okay?"

You paused, finally gaining the courage to meet his steel eyes.

"I'll be right there next to you, let's go." He declared and made it clear that it was an order and not a suggestion through the tone of his voice. A palm was suddenly outstretched to you and without a few seconds of hesitation you finally took his, surprisingly warm, hand.

In what seemed like a blink of an eye you were soon under the covers of your bed tightly snuggled against Levi, a hand wrapped around your waist as you lay your head across his chest.

His reassuringly slow heartbeat comforted your mind as his thumb ran across your skin. It wasn't until now that your exhaustion had caught up with you. The stranded pieces of your work were now long forgotten about as your eyelids began to shut.

A quiet "Thank you." was all that escaped from your parted lips soon met with a soft, lingering kiss to your forehead as he whispered, "Sleep love, I'm right here."
