It was already bedtime for your 4 year old daughter Isabel and as you headed towards the bathroom to where your daughter was located you couldn't help but overhear a conversation the two of them were having.
As you prepared to give yourself an early night you peeped into ur shared bathroom with Levi and saw your daughter perched on the bathroom sink, swinging her legs as Levi remained focused with a hairbrush, sorting out any tangles from her bath before she went to bed.
A small smile crept across your lips as you saw the two of them, your two favourite people in the world.
They hadn't noticed you standing near the entrance as Isabel hummed with Levi continuing to push her hair, sorting out the messy dark tangles of her strands. You stood silently admiring the moment between your husband and your daughter for a moment before turning around to head to bed but as you did Isabel spoke. "Daddy."
A hum came out of Levi's mouth indicating that he was listening, his face still concentrated on sorting out her hair.
"What's your favourite thing?"
You stopped in your tracks at the sound of that question and curiously stayed behind to hear his response. You knowingly knew the first answer to your daughter's question as Levi hesitated before answering her.
"Mhm...tea?" he responded.
Isabel gave a small puff, "Yes, except for that." you smiled at her response and her subtle lisp.
"Cleaning then." he replied.
"And that too!"
He sighed, pausing his movements to meet his steel grey eyes with his daughter's own identical glow in her eyes. "My favourite thing in the whole wide world...is you." he spoke, tapping her button nose with his finger.
A wide smile came across Isabel's face "Really!? Even more than cleaning and tea?"
He nodded, "Of course."
"But what about mommy?"
"She's my favourite too." he said, making sure that you weren't left out.
"What's your favourite thing about mommy?" She pondered.
He paused, frowning a little again, taking his time to answer. "A lot of things." he said eventually.
"Like what?" She pressed onto the dark haired figure.
Once again Levi paused, face clearly in deep thought for a split second "Her laugh." He finally spoke, "And her smile...she can make good tea too."
"Even better than yours?" Isabel tilted her hair curiously.
"Even better." You didn't see this but as he said this a small smile appeared across his face.
A short yawn came out of Isabel's mouth as she spoke "I love mommy." She drowsed.
"Me too." Levi said, taking note of her fatigue and moved to carry her off to bed. "Now bedtime brat." A final tired smile crept across her lips as Levi lifted her up to carry her off to bed.
