Bored.

That's what you were, watching time pass by ever so slowly. The taunting hand of the clock obnoxiously ticking away with every minute feeling like an hour and an every hour passing by like a lifetime.

You woke up in a lousy mood, disheartened to find an empty cold bed beside you, left with a single note on the pillow reminding you to have a good day.

'From Levi <3'

You weren't fond of his early hours at work as it meant no more slow and lazy mornings of him by your side, donating you the warmth that you didn't know you needed. Pulling yourself out of bed, you grabbed your phone and headed to brush your teeth.

Alone.

Seeing as you had a free day, you had the choice to lounge around at home but you didn't find it to be entertaining without your lover. You made a simple breakfast for yourself along with an iced coffee setting down a plate on the table. The weather seemed fine today with a few clouds here and there. Perhaps you would go out for a walk or have a catch up lunch with Hange if they weren't busy.

You huffed before taking your sip, taking a long sip of your coffee ready to face the day without Levi's presence to give you some sort of motivation for the day.

You honestly did try.

You tried to distract yourself from your deep pit of being touch starved. You stepped outside for a while, wandering up and down streets window shopping as you walked by before the clouds grew heavy and dark with predicted rain. Thankfully you made it back to your apartment in time before the universe had any choice in getting your outfit damp. Stumbling back into the warmth of your shared apartment, you glanced around for any ideas.

Clicking your fingers, you had decided on baking; fingertips scrolling through endless recipes online before finally deciding to bake some chocolate brownies. Simple yet tasty, you had already had the ingredients in your cupboards so what was stopping you?

Around 20 minutes later you were set on placing your brownies in the oven holding the tray cautiously with your oven gloves. With a pleasing grin you placed them inside and set a 20 minute timer on your phone for when they were ready. Looking up around you was a havoc with flour spilled on the countertop combined with spills of chocolate powder and sugar.

"Shit." You murmured to yourself unaware that you had caused this much waste and with a sigh you began clearing up hopefully quick enough before Levi returned back home. You got caught up in your own world, humming to yourself as you sweeped the floor and wiped down the countertops until they were practically gleaming.

And just on time your phone vibrated indicating that your precious brownies were now cooked. Taking care, you took them out of the oven with your oven gloves and let them cool down a little before cutting them up into squares. An idiotic grin was stretched across your face proud as the knife was removed from the centre of the pan just as clean as it was before you placed it in. Feeling a wave of achievement you couldn't wait to taste your product, immediately cutting a small piece for yourself.

Taking a bite it took less than a split second for you to spit out the chocolate brownie out into your hand, your taste buds automatically rejecting the piece.

"Why...is it so salty?" you uttered in disgust, still trying to rid of the sour aftertaste looking around until your eyes met with a jar filled with white grains. Instantly grabbing it the label was exactly what you expected it to be.

Salt.

You had replaced the sugar with the salt.

You had no time for a reaction; the key in the lock suddenly turned a few hours earlier than you had expected. Shoving the jar back to its rightful place you rushed to the door not just to greet Levi but to distract him from your incident.

Before the figure could even have the chance to shut the door behind him, you quickly embraced him, taking him by surprise as his steel eyes widened in shock. You couldn't care less if he was soaked by the rain. You were content with finally getting to hug him after what felt like a lifetime without him. His musky scent along with the soft comfort of contact finally having hit you.

With a click of his tongue and what tried to be an annoyed voice, he questioned you "Can I at least shut the door before you decide to pounce on me the moment I come home?"

"I missed you." your voice was muffled as your face was planted on his shoulder wrapping your arms tighter around him. He let out a short groan, his hands coming up to your waist, "Why are you grabbing me so tight? I'm soaking-"

"I don't care." Another phrase escaped, "I just missed you." you repeated.

"And then you dare to have the audacity to call me clingy huh?" he replied.

"Shut up." You lifted your head off of his shoulders, his clear eyes meeting yours with dark locks of his hair damp from rain. "Why can't you be nice to me for once, I even baked for you."

"Wow, that's new." he declared, voice filled with dry sarcasm.

You let out an offended gasp breaking away from him, "See what I mean? You're an asshole." you spoke.

Rolling his eyes he stepped towards you dragging your hand just to pull you in once more, his eyes meeting yours. "You know I love you though right?" he said in an attempt to cover his harsh words.

"Yeah yeah whatever."

"I'll even prove it by eating your shitty cake."

"How'd you know they're shitty if you haven't even tried?" you questioned.

With a raise of his brow he simply remarked with a "I just do."

Before you could even think of a comeback to his statement, Levi was already on his way to the kitchen. Eyes set on the tray purposefully to prove his point. He wasn't a fan of sweet treats but just for you and just because he loved you, he would do anything.

Your mouth opened in hesitation watching the figure cut out a small piece with the knife, considering to warn him about the incident before shutting your mouth ready to watch him unfold as a test of true love. You watched him with hopeful eyes as he took a bite, his jaw clenched as he chewed you desperately waiting for him to react and spit back out your creation.

Yet, to your surprise...he continued chewing and swallowed the brownie.

"Not bad."

Once again your mouth was agape but this time it was from shock as he finished odd his piece with positive feedback. "Are you fucking kidding me?" you spoke, not being able to believe this scene.

"What?" he queried, "It's good." At that point you rushed up to him and cut out a piece for yourself again, in complete disbelief of his statement. You took a bite before immediately reacting to your salty brownies.

"Levi...these brownies, there's no sugar in them. I mixed it up with salt."

"I know," he simply said.

"And you think they're good?" you doubted.

He responded with a simple nod.

"Really really?"

He nodded again.

Your face dropped, "Don't play with me right now Ackerman."

He let out a laugh surrendering to your suspicion, "They're fucking horrible."

"And you're a fucking asshole." you murmured, facing the tray disappointingly. "I wanted to do something nice for you, that's all."

Levi didn't hesitate to pop up to you from behind, hands easily slithering around your waist with his head placed on your shoulder. "And it was nice." he spoke, tone now serious. "It's the thought that counts I guess and I did really prove my love for you by eating one."

A small smile perked on your lips, "That's true."

"So..." he hummed, "Am I off the hook of being an asshole to you yet?"

"Nope. Only if you help me make another batch."

A pause filled the air before a sigh left his mouth. "Fine. But I'm going to be mixing the ingredients because clearly someone cannot be trusted."
