#45 - Past Revelations

Recap: After listening an earful of Mukti's accusations that triggered her past wounds, Nandini's confidence had shattered so much that she left Manik alone on the stage during their first duet performance. After realizing her folly, she made Manik realize that she still wanted them to perform on stage, together. 

Manik and she spent a lot of time together practicing and making 2 perfect songs to submit in a span of one week, in hopes that they shall be permitted to participate in Musicana. Seeing them as the rising stars of SPACE, the principal gladly told them that they may participate, taking care of all the rules and regulations. Just as Manik and Nandini were about to leave the principal's cabin, Nyonika walked inside the Principal's office.

And the one thing she laid her furious eyes on, was Manik's hold on Nandini's palm.

"Harshad ji?" Navya asked, "kya hum Nandini ko bata dein?"

Harshad choked on his coffee.

"Are you mad?" Harshad replied almost frantically, "No way!"

Harshad recollected Nandini's growing fondness for Manik and Manik's subtle nature around Nandini in the past days. He was doubtful that Nandini may have started to have a soft corner for Manik, in which case, revealing it to Nandini could prove to be detrimental to his plans.

"Harshad ji, Nandu ko kahin aur se pata chalega toh humari dosti khatre mein aa jayegi."

"Navya," he clasped her palms tight, "agar tum apna muh band rakhogi toh kisi ko nahi pata chalega."

"Aisa kya pata nahi chalega?"

Navya and Harshad stared at Cabir like a deer caught in headlights. Cabir crossed his arms and smirked.

Nyonika stared down at Manik's hold on Nandini's palm and scrunched her nose.

"Mrs. Malhotra," the principal chirped, "you have come at the right time. Your son and his partner are going to rock this year's Musicana!" he patted Nandini's back. "Meet Nandini Murthy, Manik's better half!"

Nyonika gave him a glare that could have put the fire to shame.

"I... I mean... in classical. Manik is the b..best in rock music, toh best ko... best milna chahiye, right?"

"It's alright, principal sir." Manik smirked, "my mother just cares for the results. Am I right... maa?"

Nyonika fisted her palms and forced a smile. "Absolutely. Y'all may leave."

With her palm still in his hold, Manik brought Nandini out of the cabin. They kept on walking until Manik noticed the silence from Nandini's end. He stopped and turned.

"Now what?"

Nandini hesitated. Manik sighed and rolled his eyes.

"Seriously? Don't tell me Nyonika scared you!"

Nandini raised a brow. "Why did you not leave my hand?" she brought the hold forward, "Tumhari mom isi ko ghoor rahi Manik!" She saw Manik smirking and frowned deeper.
"Dekho, I don't want any trouble, okay?"

Manik came closer to her and whispered in her ears.

"Scared?" He let out a chuckle, "I know she looks scary. That's why I'm monster Manik." He smirked.

"She's your mom, Manik!" Nandini widened her orbs, "How can you talk about her like that?"

"Let's keep this debate for some other day." Manik shrugged. "Chalo." He took her hand started walking down the steps.
