#17- I. Said. SORRY.
Nandini went up to him and held his collar while a tear rushed down her eye. "Friendship kya hoti hai you know it better; didn't you ever think how would I feel seeing my friend suffering because of me? For no fault of hers?" her eyes accused him for all her pain.
"I am sorry that Fab Five misunderstood you," said he, "I...am.. sorry, sorry that Alya did that to you," a tear rolled down as he said, "I am sorry that Mukti did what she wanted, to your best friend Navya." He looked at her, "But, what they did was never Fab Five's plan."
Nandini looked at him with sheer confusion.
"It was just... just Alya and Mukti. They... wanted...to...they..." Dhruv was at a loss of right words to explain her.
"Aiyappa!" she chuckled, "Kya dosti hai! When you guys couldn't handle it together, toh Alya Mukti pe blame? Wonderful!" she clapped slowly.
"GOD, NANDINI PLEASE, JUST FOR ONCE, LISTEN TO ME." Dhruv finally lost his patience and his helpless state made him speak louder than he ever did, to anyone.
Nandini in an instant shut her mouth and stared back at him with wide eyes.
"Alya... she hated you... Mukti got a rage against Navya that day when she broke her favourite guitar's string. So," Dhruv gulped, "Alya provoked her to bully Navya." He couldn't look at her eyes filled with rage, rage for Mukti.
"And Mukti was lead astray? Wow!" she chided.
"Yes she was. Mukti... is vulnerable," he said hesitatingly, "sometimes." He added.
Nandini looked at him to continue, but when he didn't she asked.
"They wanted revenge, haina?" Nandini looked at the sorry figure of Dhruv. "Mukti, mukti wanted revenge... Just because Navya broke her guitar string? Just. A. Guitar. String!" Nandini's statement caught Dhruv's instant attention giving her the confirmation that she wasn't just assuming things."So you..." Dhuv hesitated as he spoke, "...now know, I hope... it wasn't me, or Manik or Cabir." Dhruv stepped forward hopefully. "And I am sorry," he clasped his hands together which caught her eye, "you shouldn't have saved me I guess." His eyes downcast.
Nandini tried to find one spec of dishonesty in his eyes but found none. The sincerity in his apologies melted her heart and she knew she had to forgive him no matter how much she tried to shy away from the fact that he is still a Fab Five member and very dangerous to her and Navya.
"It wasn't Manik either?" she questioned as she realized the reason behind the confusion on Manik's face when she had punched him and accused him for what Alya and Mukti did to her and Navya.
"Not at all. As I said, that day after you fainted, he told us to not interfere in your life anymore." He said.
Nandini stood silently in front of him, contemplating whether her punch to the guy she called a monster was justifiable or not.
"Please, forgive me. You tried to help me when others tried to escape, and I'll... never forget that." He looked at her with a ray of hope.
Nandini didn't have the heart to dim the hope shining in his eyes, and so she smiled.
"Okay!" she said and her smile reflected on his face as he muttered a 'thank you'.
It wasn't just Dhruv who felt as if a huge weight is off his shoulder, it was Nandini too. The feeling of carrying hatred in her heart for anyone was too heavy for a girl like her, who gave nothing but love.
With the smile on her face, Nandini was about to leave when Dhruv forwarded his hand.
"Friends?"
