#38 - Windows To The Soul
After a therapeutic phone call with Nandini, Manik's fury was rubbed of by her mildness, as he drove to the same tapri stall where she once made him have a humble cup of coffee."Bolo sahab, aaj akele?" the old man asked Manik sitting alone on one of the benches.
A moment of silence prevailed until Manik sighed audibly in exasperation.
"Ab kya kar sakte hain," he gazed blankly into oblivion, his fingers brushing the rim of the coffee cup, "koi life mein hai, par saath nahi. Aur jo saath rehna chahta hai," he gave a dry chuckle, "uske liye koi jagah hi nahi!" He turned to the old man who had stopped all his work by then, "Kisi ke saath galat jagah rukne se toh behtar hi haina, akele rehna!"
Manik took a last glance at the old man's confused face and concentrated back on his coffee. As soon as the old man got free from the rest of his customers, he quietly sat opposite Manik and patted his shoulder.
"Beta, pata nahi aapko kaisa lage, par humara tajurba aapko ek seekh dena chahta hai." He said.
Manik looked at him with a drained face, then nodded slightly.
"Kabhi pahaad chadhe ho?" he asked.
Manik was caught off guard. "Uh, haan... so?"
"Kabhi zarurat se zyada bhari bag, kandhe pe leke gaye ho?"
Manik made a grim face and nodded.
"Zyada mushkil tha na, aage badhna?" he asked.
When Manik understood what he actually meant, he kept his coffee cup down and stared at him with full attention.
"Zindagi bahut lambi hai. Sab kuch dil mein bhar ke rakhoge, toh aage kaise badhoge?" the old man smiled at him, "Bojh utaro apna, koi toh zarur sunne wala banaya hoga, uparwale ne tumhare liye bhi!" he patted Manik's back and left.
Manik stared into oblivion. The old man's words kept ringing into his ears as much as Alya's screams. But this time, it didn't take him into a frenzy, it took him to a destination.
Nandini.

Nandini's POV:Aiyappa, sirf ek call.
No. I should let him be by himself. He definitely needs some space.
Par, mujhe neend kaise aayegi?
I banged my head into the pillow. Nandini Murthy, go to sleeeeeep.
