#39 - Unlucky In Love
The car halted right outside the humongous doors to the empty bungalow. With her stilettos in one hand and her phone in another, she stepped out of the car and staggered towards the door. A servant had already opened it.
She chuckled dryly at her situation. No mother to stand at the door and scold her for coming home at this hour. No father to sit on that plush sofa with a newspaper, awaiting her late arrival. No brother around, asking her about the date with her boyfriend.
All empty.
The stilettos were long thrown away, the mobile was about to slip any moment. She was about to break down. The haunting silence had started to pierce her ears. She gripped her phone harder and ran to her room.
The first thing she did after entering the room was pushing the button of the stereo on. The loud music blaring inside the room started to replace the haunting silence that were screaming Manik's words before he stormed out of his mansion.
She threw her phone on the bed and pulled open the cupboard door. Every single thing that was related to Manik, that reminded Alya of him – be it clothes, bags, jewelleries, shoes – were ruthlessly thrown out. Opening the drawer, she removed all that she could get her hands at, and threw them to the other corner of the room. Her face red and her head pounding, she was about to thrash everything on the floor – until her hands caught her most treasured album.
Manik ~ Alya
Alya caressed the title on the album cover as tears rolled down her cheeks. Not sparing one glance to the condition of her room, she dragged herself to the stereo to switch it off and slumped down on the floor.
Alya stared at the first page and her lips curved into a small smile. Her smile grew wider as she flipped the page to a caught-in-the-moment picture.Their first Diwali party. She wore a lehenga for him, for the first time in her life.
The feelings of first crush and all that she did for him to notice her sweet efforts... School love had its own charm!
