I knelt down beside them. Why did he leave his crutches, he can’t walk without them?

This made me curious and scared about where he was.

I left them on the floor as it would be hard running with them. However I knew he wouldn’t be far anyway, even if he could walk, he wouldn’t be able to go that far or that fast.

I went over the hill at the end of the road and saw something that answered most of my questions.

It was the children from Heartlock, Paul, Sam, Katie, Lucie, Taylor, harry, Shannon, everyone, but no Ryan. At least I now knew where they all went. They were at the park having a picnic. Some were playing with a Frisbee, some were playing tag and harry was running after Paul. It was nice seeing them, for once.

I had to tell Paul about Ryan, though he will probably be mad at me and blame me for the whole thing. Ryan could be in trouble and I couldn’t risk anything else happening to him.

I had to help him. I ran down the hill tripping a few times on the log grass. Paul looked at me worried, he probably figured that as Ryan wasn’t with me and I was running towards him Something was up.

“it’s Megan!” harry shouted with a smile.

“Megan you found us, sorry, we would’ve invited you to come but you and Ryan were having fun yourselves, did you see the note on the fridge?”

“no what note?”

“I left a note on the fridge saying we would be here, I thought that’s why you came, where’s Ryan by the way?”
“that’s the reason I’m here, I didn’t actually mean to find you. I was trying to find Ryan he ran away”

“what did you do Megan?” Paul said sternly

“I don’t know that’s why I need to find him”

Paul looked at me knowing the next thing I was going to say was bad. He was right.

“and another thing, not to worry you but, I found his crutches on the side of the road”

Paul looked at me as if he was about to cry but held it in.

“Sam!” he shouted really loudly in my ear.

Same came over with the usual annoying face of hers.

Paul whispered something in her ear that I couldn’t quite make out. Then Sam went off.

“let’s go” Paul said already walking

“where?” I asked

“to find Ryan”

We walked back up the hill and it wasn’t long before we saw him. I didn’t know what to feel at this point, happy to see him, or heartbroken because of what he is doing.

Ryan had been arrested.
