Chapter 28: The heart that truly loves never forgets

It’s been two months since the accident happened.

Jerome is still injured but with the help of his wife, Samantha, his coping up. Although they are trying to fix their marriage, Samantha is still bothered, she knew from her heart that the only reason why she stayed is because she is guilty for what happened to Jerome. She can’t stand seeing Jerome in a bad condition knowing that she is the reason why he was hurt and in pain.

During their dinner, Samantha decided to discuss her plans with Jerome.

“Jerome, I think kailangan ko na ulit bumalik sa pag ttrabaho..” She said.

“Pero Hon, you don’t have to..” Jerome said.

“I need to do it Jerome, dadating ‘yung time na mauubos din ang savings natin kahit gaano pa ka dami ang ipon natin..” Samantha explained.

“Hindi naman ako habang-buhay na magiging paralisado, makakarecover din ako at makakapag trabaho ulit ako, alam ng company ‘yan, so please, wag ka nang mag-alala..” Jerome said.

“I’m sorry Jerome, but my decision is final, maghihire na din pala ako ng private nurse na mag-aalaga sa’yo kapag nasa trabaho ako..” Samantha said although she’s hesitated to do so because she knew that Jerome will be offended.

“Ah, so nagsasawa ka na palang alagaan ako? Ang dami mo pang excuses, ‘yun lang pala ang gusto mong sabihin..” Jerome angrily said and pulled over his wheelchair and left the dining room.

“No Jerome, that’s not true.. Pinaliwanag ko na naman sa’yo ang reason ko diba..”

“Jerome!!” Samantha yelled.

“’Wag mo na kong sundan, please!” Jerome shouted back.

Samantha was hurt. She tried so hard not to let Jerome feel that way, but in the end, Jerome is still the self-centered husband that she’s married to.

While having breakfast, Valeen started to ask me something that I didn’t expect.

“Nakalimutan mo na ba sya?” She asked.

Apparently, I know that she was referring to Cesca, but then, she is not the person that strikes my mind.. It was Samantha.. The one that I’m longing for.. Of course, I can’t tell Valeen anything about Samantha and me.

“Sino bang tinukukoy mo, Valeen?” I asked her back as if I do not know.

“Come on Albert, alam mo kung sinong tinutukoy ko..” Valeen said.

I need to deep breath. I know exactly the answer to her question.

“Si Cesca ba? I already forgot her. To be honest, kung hindi mo sya pinaalala ngayon, hindi ko maiisip na part pala sya ng past ko.” I said honestly. But the thing is, there is someone that I truly love since then. Samantha is the one who owns my heart right now. Maybe I was fooled by the fact that she looks exactly like Cesca, but I’ve realized that I love Samantha exactly for who she is.
