(No POV)
Darkness, hatred, fear. All of those emotions bubbled inside of them as they stood in front of the cave where everything went wrong. Where their powers first devoured them in a painful attack. Their hearts beat against their chest in a timely rhythm that felt like slow deep drums. Hand and hand they stared at their enemy with such hatred and rage that it seemed if they had the chance, their enemies would be dead on the ground. But with their hands handcuffed behind their back, and the power-preventing chemical that coursed through their veins, they were powerless against their attackers.
They glared, sneered, cried, cursed, and screamed in agony, frustration, and pain. The enemy smiled back in victory as they watched their hostages squirm in a frenzy. The brunette lifts a gun while the seven of them beg with mercy and anger to be freed. One pull of the trigger and each fall to the ground, lifeless and silently. The only sound is the insects in the forest around them. Even Ethan was dead after he begged to be freed, even sacrificing himself to the dark side so he wouldn't be dead. That image didn't last long until the sound of a heart monitor beeped beside them, keeping their vitals in check. Air tubes were shoved up their noses to keep them alive and an IV was stabbed into their veins.
Madelyn gasped awake, looking around at her friends who seemed to be in the same coma she had just woken up from. She looked around at herself, lying in a hospital bed tangled in tubes and wires. She picked up the mystery tubes in suspicion, then she felt her head. A throbbing pain yanked her brain, but she felt no wound or blood.
"She's awake!" A woman's voice announced. She looked over at the woman as she rushed toward the door to find a doctor.
"What's going on? Where are we?" Madelyn asked while a doctor frantically rushed in, looking at Madelyn in shock.
"She isn't supposed to be awake yet." He said to the nurses as he grabbed a needle and flicked the plastic side so the air bubbles would rise to the surface.
"What the hell is happening?" She asked, completely stunned by her surroundings. The last thing she remembered was lying in Jason's lap after she got shot by a tranquilizer.
Then the image of her and her friends standing outside of the cave popped into her head and the gunshot felt so real. She was sure she was dead and in heaven, but then she woke up on the hospital bed. Something wasn't right and she wasn't sure what it was, but she snapped out of her crazed daze when the doctor touched her shoulder and began to push her down.
"What's going on?" She asked again, fighting against the push.
"It's going to be fine. You just need to sleep." He injected the needle into her arm, but she fought back, pushing the doctor away and throwing the needle onto the ground.
"No! Get away from me!" She shouted, pulling all of the wires off of her and looking at her friends. "Wake up! Tyler! Caroline! Someone, wake up!"
"She needs to be restrained, someone, go get a tranquilizer." The doctor ordered, placing both hands on her shoulders and pushing her down this time.
"Get off of me! Someone help!" She shouted in agony as a nurse rushed over to the side. She kicked, screamed, and spat. She scratched the doctor, screaming in fear and anguish until the needle injected the calming liquid into her system. She fell back into a deep forced sleep.
Noah gasped awake this time, remembering Madelyn's screams like he was watching her, but he was also unconscious. He looked around and now saw he was on the airplane that was taking them to the Bahamas. He looked around in confusion and saw his friends sleeping peacefully around him.
"What the fuck?" He whispered, placing his hand on the seat. What he quickly realized was that he couldn't feel his hand on the seat. He felt nothing like it didn't exist. He popped up and rushed to Jason, shaking him until he jolted awake.
