(Caroline's POV)

My head was pounding. My mouth was dry and my stomach was tightening. My body was aching from sitting in this chair and the chains were digging into my skin, making it hard to heal. They were weakening me so I could be "fixed". I didn't need to be fixed. I wanted to get off of this stupid island and be home. Rebecca is the one standing in our way. Danielle's gone and I had no idea where she could be. I had to get out of here before I lose my mind. They couldn't keep me here forever. I pulled at the chains, groaning in pain as I did. It wouldn't budge. I felt the ice form on my hands again, and just like before, the chains froze over but didn't break.

"Damn it," I whispered to myself. Suddenly, there was a light in front of me and I squinted as I looked up. I saw a girl standing at the door and I assumed it was either Danielle or Madelyn.

"Caroline..." The voice trembled, giving away that it was Danielle. I scoffed at her. Of course, they would let her out first.

"It's funny how you're still here even when they let you out." I mocked, amusing myself more than her.

She came further in and shut the door behind her, allowing me to see her face. She was cleaner than when she was sitting next to me. Her hair was brushed and a little damp, showing me that she had taken a shower. She was in new clothes and she looked healthier. Her cheeks had color in them and she had the light back in her eyes.

"Caroline, I know you think that killing Rebecca is the answer, but you're hurting yourself more than the person you're trying to kill. You're letting her win by doing what you're doing right now." She tried reasoning with me. I groaned and threw my head back, not wanting to hear a word she was saying.

"Blah, blah, blah. Enough with the stupid pep talks. I know how this works. You tried to appeal to my emotions, thinking I can switch within an instant and it won't end up--" I started to explain, not giving a damn about how she could help me. I didn't need help. The only help I needed was killing Rebecca.

"Alright, then let's take your anger out of you." Danielle interrupted, lifting her hand. Immediately, the chains fell off of my wrists, allowing my skin to breathe and heal like they were supposed to.

I looked up at her, rubbing my wrists in confusion. I was wondering why Danielle unlocked me. Surely she can't be the one to stop me, she can barely keep her powers together. No one is going to stop me because if they did, they'll wind up dead.

"Are you letting me get rid of the pest in our lives?" I asked, standing up. She shook her head and pushed her hand to the right, making the chair move to the corner of the room. She looked up at me like she was baiting me. "What?"

"Let's see what you would do if you had your hands on Rebecca right now." She said, pulling the sleeves of her sweater.

"You want me to fight you?" I asked. She nodded and I scoffed.

"Come on, you're all bark and no bite. If you wanna kill, then kill." She explained, holding out her hand like she was ready. "I want to see if you're even capable of killing her."

"Do I get to use my powers?" I asked, raising my eyebrow.

"Yep. Show me what you can do." I chuckled and held out my hands, feeling the cool sensation run down my veins. Ice formed on my palms, making my body cold. I should be dying and shivering from the feeling, but I loved the feeling.

"Why do you want me to do this to you? I'll kill you." I mocked, raising my hand.

"No, you won't."

Immediately, an icicle flew from my hand, but it was quickly stopped in mid-air and dropped to the ground. It shattered onto the ground and I clicked my tongue in response. Maybe she did get better with her powers, but I can control mine better than anyone in this group.
