(Ethan's POV)
The sun was setting and we were getting ready to go to the office. It closed when the sun went down, and we had to make sure that Casper was fully out of the office. We grabbed flashlights while Tyler was bending a bobby pin Caroline gave to him, and a paper clip so he could pick the locks. All of us walked down the street and hid by bushes as we waited for Casper to leave his office so we could get in and get out.
"Ow, get off of me," Caroline whispered to Tyler.
"You're pushing me into the thorns," Tyler whispered. They started to bicker and Madelyn shushed them.
"Are you sure you can do this?" Madelyn asked me as we watched the lights turn off.
"Yeah, we'll be fine," I answered. "Look. He's leaving." I watched as Casper locked the front doors and looked around. All of us, except Noah and Jason, turned on our flashlights and ran to the doors once he was gone. Tyler pulled out the bobby pin and paper clip and started to mess with the lock as I shined the flashlight for him.
"Guys, wait," Danielle said. I looked over at her and she had a worried look on her face as she looked up at me. She looked so cute in the brown jacket she was wearing.
"Elle now's not the time to back out," Tyler said, trying to unlock it.
"I'm not backing out. What if he has an alarm system, dumbass?" She smacked the back of his head, knocking his hat out of place so it covered his eyes.
"Great, now I can't see, dumbass." He said, mocking her voice. Caroline chuckled as she fixed it for him so he could see again.
"Have you ever done this before?" She accused.
"Yes. I've broken into the school plenty of times." He explained.
"Why?" Caroline asked.
"You know... Finding answers... star gazing... sex." I laughed as Danielle and Caroline cringed. Madelyn rolled her eyes.
"An alarm system needs wifi and since there isn't any on the island, there isn't an alarm system," Madelyn whispered.
"Got it," Tyler whispered as the door opened. A little beep sounded, making us stop in our tracks and look around.
"I told you there was an alarm," Danielle whispered, looking around.
"It's not an alarm. It's just a way of knowing if the door was opened while he was in the office. See." Caroline whispered, pointing up at the small white plastic circle hanging on the wall. It looked like a smoke detector.
"How will we know if it alerts him?" Danielle asked.
"We don't," I whispered.
"I guess we have to work quickly," Tyler said.
We walked in and I quietly closed the door behind us as Tyler walked to the next door to do the same thing. It was creepy how dark it was in there. He opened that one a lot quicker and we started to walk inside.
"Hey," Madelyn said, stopping us. We looked over at her. "Be careful."
"We will," Caroline assured.
"Guys, we're not in a movie or on Disney Channel. We know to be careful. Let's go." I said, pushing Caroling inside. I closed the door behind us and locked it, just in case anyone came. I shined the flashlight around the office and looked for anything I could.
"Okay, I'll get the files. Try to find anything suspicious." Caroline said, immediately walking to the filing cabinet.
"Okay," Danielle said, walking over to a different filing cabinet. I walked to the bookshelf and started to look for something that could be out of the ordinary.
