(Caroline's POV)
Weeks have gone by with nothing but pain. We lost track of how long we've been in here since Tyler was keeping count. We haven't seen Ethan or Kaeo since our first day here either. We thought we were going to get out of here. We had the plan and everything, but nothing seemed to work. Every day Rebecca's guards will take one of us out, dragging us until we're too tired to fight back. All of us were tired. Even sitting here just watching each other getting taken away, knowing what's happening to them is a nightmare. We can't do anything, and I think that's what's the most heartbreaking.
The first few nights, we were okay. We cried a bit, sat in darkness when it was supposedly nighttime. We slept. As the days went on, sleep became less important and more of terror. Things would happen in our sleep and it terrified us to close our eyes for even a minute. So, we agreed to sleep in turns, watching each other to make sure that we were okay. Almost none of us slept when it was pitch black. We had Noah use his power to create a light source while it's dark.
None of us have really spoken. We're all too weak, shattered, hurt, terrified. We couldn't use our powers and we had nothing to say to each other. Until one or more of us were coming back from the room. This time, Tyler was gone and his screams were so loud that we could hear them. I was shaking. My entire body was cold, but I was sweating. I hugged myself and flinched every time I heard one of his painful screams. I knew what they were doing and it killed me inside to hear it.
"I can't fucking take this," Jason muttered after a long streak of silent misery. He banged on the glass, making us jump.
"What are they doing to him?" Madelyn asked, shaking her head. The screams stopped and the door busted open. I shot up and ran to the glass, waiting to see how badly Tyler was beaten up.
He was dragged along the ground, his eyes shut and blood coating his lip. He was thrown into his cell and groaned as he lay on the ground. I looked at him silently, praying he was going to be okay. Normally, we've been able to heal quickly, but recently that hasn't been the case. We've been beaten so badly and the food was shit. We were weak and they were slowly beating us to death.
"Tyler. Are you okay?" Madelyn asked. He groaned, lifting himself up and nodding.
"Yeah, I'm good." He sighed, crawling toward the wall and laying against it.
"What are we going to do?" Noah asked as I slowly slid down the wall into my own seated position. I shook my head, not sure what to do. There was nothing we could do.
"Hello!" A very loud and cheery voice rang. One that we haven't heard in a while. We pulled our heads up, but I immediately rolled my eyes as I saw the face of the voice. Rebecca was walking in with Ethan and Kaeo following behind her.
I looked over at Danielle's cell and saw that she was barely looking up at them. She was just as hurt as all of us. But what hurts worse was that she was watching the man she loved destroy our lives. All of us were in pain. I turned to Madelyn, who couldn't look at Kaeo either. He still looked guilty for the pain he caused all of us.
"Go away." I coldly said. "No one wants you here."
"Woah, what's going on?" Ethan asked, looking curiously at all of us, broken and angry.
"Like you care." Tyler groaned, holding onto his side.
"I've brought food. Five-star food. You may recognize it from your first morning here. Unfortunately, Madelyn, you couldn't have a run before this. But I figured, coffee, pancakes, protein shakes, and eggs and bacon always satisfies." Rebecca announced, walking to each of our cells and placing the bags of food in our little windows where the normal mushy oatmeal goes. "Why aren't any of you eating?"
