(Ethan's POV)

I slowly opened my eyes as the sunlight filled the room. I looked down and saw Danielle in my arms sleeping peacefully. My heart pounded as I looked down at her with admiration. Her chest moved up and down ever so gently as she slept and her warm body was pressed against mine.

I've been dreaming about this moment since we were in middle school and now it was finally happening. Although I didn't imagine us being in an empty house on the run from psychopaths with random powers I didn't know were possible. This was not the ideal situation, but we're working with what we've got.

Her lying on my chest was giving me a sense of relief, knowing she was safe in my arms. I know what I did was selfish last night and I care about all of our friends, but I had to get her away. I couldn't bear the thought of losing her to one of those men. Now I had to find our friends so she can get one step closer to a clearer mind. I slowly shifted, trying not to wake her up. She deserved any amount of rest she could have even if she did sleep for four days straight.

I slowly stood up, making her turn a little. I looked through the blinds on the window and saw the road was empty and quiet. It must be early. I walked over to my shirt on the ground and quickly put it on, smiling a little as I replayed the night in my head. I heard her inhale sharply and I looked over at her to see her slowly opening her eyes.

"What time is it?" She mumbled and I crouched down next to her with a smile growing on my lips.

"Don't worry about it. Go back to sleep." I whispered. She looked up at me and smiled a little.

"Where are you sneaking off to?" I pressed my lips together and looked at the ground.

"I'm going to find our friends and you're going to sleep." Her smile slowly faded as she sat up.

"No way. I'm coming with you." I carefully pushed her down, smiling a little. I was not going to put her in any danger. She would be safe in this house and I would rather get killed than ever imagine her in the arms of Casper.

"No, you have to stay here. It's too dangerous." She sat up with frustration all over her face. She was so cute when she was frustrated.

"May I remind you that I broke someone's hand just by thinking it?" I smiled as she leaned closer to me. "I lifted someone in the air and dropped them on their face. I have yet to burst into tears."

"Oh, then you should surely come with me," I said, sarcastically as I leaned into her with a grin on my lips. She rolled her eyes and slightly pushed my shoulder.

"I'm serious."

"So am I. You forgot you had powers until Jason ran in front of you. I'm not going to put you in danger again." I pushed a piece of hair behind her ear and looked around her face. Her lips were slightly pouted and she looked at me with wonder in her eyes. I moved my hand so my thumb lightly grazed her lips.

"All you can do is electrocute people and make lights flicker. I can protect you way more than you can protect me." I laughed as she had a small smile on her lips.

She was right. She had the better power out of all of us and she could protect me way more than I could protect her. But I wasn't going to let her know that she was right. I'm her... boyfriend? I should be the one to protect her.

"You're not making me sound very tough." She laughed and I pushed my lips onto hers. Her lips were so soft and she was so delicate. She drives me crazy.

She placed her hands on my cheeks and kissed me passionately. If she wasn't so compelling, I would've tied her to a chair and left her here, but then I would have the constant worry that Casper would look in the house and grab her because I tied her to the chair. Maybe being with me is the safest place. She pulled away and I smiled, looking around at her gorgeous face.
