chapter twenty one

"good morning!" sunghoon greeted the two boys seated on their desks, throwing his backpack that landed right next to his chair. "how are you?"

"pretty fine." jake replied with a smile that sunghoon returned, yet jungwon remained unfazed. "morning." with a stern tone, he kept doodling on his pencil case, sunghoon not expecting something more from him.

"hey hoon, hope you know what day is today, hmm?" the brunette asked with a raise of his brows, sunghoon grinning from ear to ear only at the thought of it. "yup, I do."

'is it a thing to call him hoon or what? tsk─' jungwon thought to himself with his pen pressing harder on the object, as he smiled upon the memory of how much of a special day today is.

"haneul will be so happy, but we need to cooperate in order to successfully get this done. wonie? may I have your attention?" the australian raised his brows at the raven, making him hum.

"what?" he asked with a poker face, receiving a glare from the one across him. "please elaborate, I can't squeeze my pretty brain for your bullshit─"

"jungwon, what the heck?" the voice of the cheerful girl popped up out of nowhere, making jake and sunghoon share a few glances before they stared off at nothing specifically.

"I've never heard you cussing in those five years I know you, you sure you're feeling good?" she placed her hand on his forehead, sensing his temperature as he gently took her hand.

"hey, I'm fine." with a thumb running through her knuckles, he enjoyed the look of jealousy on sunghoon's eyes, a subtle smirk plastered on his lips that came in complete contrast to the pair of clenched lips.

"I'll try my best to believe you." she huffed out, making him chuckle. "so, dear boys, I'd like your attention on me for a minute or two." "bet it'll be one of a twenty-minute talk."

"sunghoon park, shush!" she slapped his shoulder, sitting on his desk as she managed to get all of her friends' eyes on her. "okay, I'll start."

"since summer is around the corner, I thought that it'd be one of an amazing idea to have a friend gathering in my house. before you ask hee, I got the permission from my parents."

"good, let's not forget the iconic eighth grade party where your parents came back from their business trip a WEEK earlier and found their household in a complete mess and twenty five kiddos doing god knows what─"

"what?" sunghoon exclaimed, making haneul seal his mouth with her hand as she glared at the taller one. "what? me doing such a thing? never─"

"babe, don't worry, I like spontaneous girls that like risking it all for fun." a wave of reactions, jungwon rolling his eyeballs so hard, it felt as if they'd pop out of his sockets. "bitch."

"jungwon." heeseung hissed, being the only one to grasp the word midair, his eyes narrowing and jaw clenching. in response, the younger shrugged with a playful smile. "try me." he mouthed.

"back to the main point, I thought of this friday being THE perfect day to do so, but I'd like you to have a word on it too. so, how's it?"

"personally, I love it. it'd be a great chance for sunghoon to meet some new people too, hmm?" jake batted his eyelashes, the raven chuckling at his consideration.

"well, sounds good with me. it's time for me to get to know some new dope boys and girls─" "HOPE YOU'RE JUST JOKING OR ELSE HUN, YOU GOT A BIG STORM COMING!"

"I'll be gone." jungwon suddenly said, making everyone look at him, mixed feelings like surprise or shock being mirrored in their faces. but for the older boy and the taller raven haired, a wave of relief ringer their bodies.

"oh? it's fine wonie, I'll reach you out if we decided on something else. don't worry about the time too, I'll consider your taekwondo classes so that you can also make it."

with a subtle smile, he walked out of the class with head hanging low. the two boys that stared at him till he was completely gone were now averting their attention back to the girl, but oh so happened to meet eyes.

heeseung wasn't an expert, but if he's something he's completely confident in, it's reading someone's eyes. he was certain that sunghoon, at this point, is much confused and even sad, and he feared that jungwon won't keep those raging feelings hidden for any longer.

once they were done, sunghoon made his way to the lockers, where one of a big surprise found him. once the door was opened, small papers flooded the floor, as he stared at them falling on the ground.

he smirked. "not again, boy." a sigh, him bending over to pick them all up one by one with small cusses leaving his mouth. not until a random hand reached for his, griping on his wrist and raising it a little.

sunghoon looked up, purely surprised till he saw jungwon's smiley face, and he couldn't help but smile, for he was at least someone he knew and he was certain that they'd at least offer their help.

and indeed, jungwon bent over and started picking up a few papers, the raven going back to doing the same, not until he heard something like a faint whisper coming from the raven across him. "what?"

"I said." his eyes searched around the place, at the end landing right on the boy's doe ones, and am I lying when I say that sunghoon felt like a fish out of the water.

"I won't be nice for long enough, act wisely while you have time."
