chapter twenty two
꒰☁️꒱
"what is that supposed to mean, yang jungwon?" sunghoon himself did not know how this sudden burst of actual confidence came from, knowing how he isn't that confident to even ask the teacher a question while in front of the whole class.
on the other hand, jungwon's smirk had grown wider, him taking a few steps and coming closer to him. "it means, that haneul won't be there to protect you forever."
"you see hoon, there are a few things that set us apart ─ haneul wise. you may be her boyfriend, but I am her five year long best friend, obviously she'll trust me more when it comes to...whatever."
sunghoon stared at the boy with his brows creased in curiosity. what was he trying to say anyways? as much as he'd like to believe, his girlfriend has no secrets from him ─ again, that's what he'd like to think.
"I'm sorry, I don't get you." "oh, you'll get me soon enough park sunghoon. really soon." jungwon chuckled, as he made a u turn and left the taller boy standing like a lonely scarecrow in a deserted field.
students passed by, whispering things about him and his now bending figure as they giggled to themselves. his self was well used to it, listening to those silent chit-chats whenever his quiet self was to pass by someone, but all the while he's been at this school, it seemed to get worse.
"oh, hyung?" a deep voice from right behind him exclaimed, as he turned around and faced the young japanese boy he's paired with for an economy class project. "hi, ni-ki."
"why are you all alone? mind if I join you in the cafeteria?" he asked, as his beach blonde hair moved along with the spring wind. sunghoon still doesn't know how he convinced the principal that this is his natural hair color.
"that'd be great." he smiled, walking down the crowded corridor followed by the boy. lucky him, he found some company that could keep his mind off of the whispering going around.
"it's a great day today, isn't it hyung?" ni-ki tried to spark up a conversation, though he himself ain't the talkative type. he's one to stay silent, simingly to the point that he has no cares of the world, but in fact the blonde japanese has more things to say than act.
"it certainly is. to be honest, I like that kind of weather. I prefer that kind of chilliness instead of plain sunny." he said, ni-ki nodding as it was the most he's heard from sunghoon in the span of a month. but then again, they never got the chance to talk other than the day of the bucket incident.
"in japan, spring is always like that. I kind of miss the cherry trees in every side of the sidewalk. it's that time of the year that they bloom." sunghoon looked at him for a while, taking in his nostalgic face.
"you miss japan, don't you?" nodding, a laugh left his lips. "more than what people think. but thinking of why I'm here, which is pursuing a career as a dancer, I always feel a little better."
"then you must love dance a ton to leave your country at such an age." sunghoon said, empathizing with the passionate young boy, for he's got a passion too, and traveled miles and miles to make his dreams come true.
"it's my life, I've been dancing since I was four and however much I tried to drift away, I always found me missing the way the music blocks everything out and it's just me, my passion and the mirror making me look fat."
"what the─" sunghoon laughed, ni-ki following suit as the two reached the furthest table possible and sat down. time passes like running water, as the two youngsters found themselves in a much interesting conversation about sunghoon's own passion.
however surprising it seemed to him at first, sunghoon found out that he'd more things in common with the boy, one being that, when things got hard, they found themselves drunk in their very own passion.
"it was nice talking to you hyung, let's do this again sometime." ni-ki waved, a spring on his steps as he gripped on his backpack's straps and walked up the stairs to attend his last class.
sunghoon smiled, staring at the boy's back vanishing. once he was gone, he picked up his pace and went to meet haneul, for she promised to walk the way back home with him.
"hey babe." his voice echoed around in the weirdly empty corridor, a shy giggle coming from the other line. "I told you to not call me that, it's just way too cheesy."
"so you tell me 'love' and 'dear' ain't cheesy huh? okay, kim haneul!" "park sunghoon! anyways, where are you? I've been waiting for you in the front gate since lunch time ended."
"I was hanging out with ni-ki, this boy is pretty fun to be around." sunghoon started, as he walked down the many stairs and glanced at the gate, seeing his girlfriend having her phone close to her ear while tapping her foot in a repetitive way.
"by the way, you look so pretty with that jacket on. I wonder who's it?" he said with a smirk, seeing as haneul's head snapped on any direction given, eyes popping out of their sockets.
"where are you?" she whined, making him chuckle. "I'm where I'll always be babe." "a creepy as hell dude hidden in the most impossible places?"
"no." sunghoon stopped, ending their call and putting the phone in his hip pocket. "right behind you."
haneul turned around and offered him one of the sweetest smiles, her running to him with her tiny hands wrapping around his waist. "cheesy."
"I know you like cheesy stuff...babe." "ugh PARK SUNGHOON YOU FLIRT!"
