TW: IMPLICATIONS OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT
(Y/n)'s POV
Was I too rash? This was the only way, wasn't it? I suppose it doesn't matter now, what's done is done. I feel so cold.
I look around and see familiar outlines, but no distinct features. I was surrounded by people I most definitely knew, but I couldn't make out precisely who each one was.
"Seems like you're destined to be alone," a deep voice called out to me. I whipped my head around in the direction of the voice and saw what had been just a shadow become a visible person-- my father, to be more specific.
"Papá?" I asked, even though I was certain it was him.
"You never can seem to stick with a group of people: They are either taken from you or you are taken from them. Maybe you should stop trying to force something that is clearly unnatural."
"Oh shush, I stopped caring about your opinion a long time ago," I retorted.
"What about my opinion?" A female voice that I hadn't heard since my disastrous wedding day interjected. I turned to see Momo materialize and stare into my eyes with her sorrowful ones. "Did you forget about me? I helped save you and you haven't even tried looking for Sir Tokoyami or me. We're fugitives and outcasts, but I understand... we're not part of your life anymore."
"Momo, no! I didn't mean to! I guess I just got caught up in everything... I didn't realize you were on the run. I suppose it makes sense after everything that happened... I'm so sorry," I apologized, but Momo disappeared back into the blurry figure from before.
"Monsters are always a target. There's always a price on our heads," a woman sighed, stepping into view. My mother placed her hand on my shoulder-- it was cold.
"Mamá!" I cried, hugging my mother. Although I held her close, she still felt miles away. "Please, I need you!"
"Your father is right though, you are always alone. That's how it is for us monsters. People either are afraid of you, want to kill you, or want to use you. We cannot have true relationships."
"But Mamá... you're not a monster..."
"Maybe not to you, but the strong will always be viewed as abnormal. People fear what they do not know. The more you learn about your quirk and the better you can control it, the more people will fear you. My quirk may seem simple, but when you replicate warships and bring great devastation to your enemies, you earn the title of a 'monster'. You have something to fight for, that's good, but think: to what lengths will you go for these people? Are you willing to kill a bunch of half-witted lackeys in cold blood just to protect one person?"
"Mamá..."
"You and I both know the answer to that. Your answer is the same as mine, and that is why we are monsters," she concluded before disappearing and leaving on a sore note.
"We could have avoided all of this, you know?" A surprisingly nonchalant voice entered the mix. I recognized it immediately and refused to turn and look at his face-- it would only cause me to miss him more.
"Kat..."
"I'm not mad, I'm just saying we could have run away. We could've have gone back to Saint Domingue and hidden until everyone forgot about us. That was an option, you can't deny that, but we both refused it. I am just as at fault for this situation, and I am aware of that, but still..." he trailed off.
