Tomura's POV
"Mr. Compress!" I shouted at the masked man steering the ship.
"Yes, Captain?" The well-spoken man responded but didn't shift his gaze off of the sea ahead.
"Do enlighten me on where we be goin'! We've been travel'n for weeks and haven't seen a single ship er landmark at all! If ye got us lost in the middle o' the sea I won't hesitate to disintegrate each and every last part of yer body until yer nothin' but a pile o' worthless dust, ya hear me?!" I shouted, annoyed with the lack of action. I wanted to kill that egotistical wench and see her pass away into the depths of Hell with my own eyes... no more coming back to life.
"Captain, I told you already that Mateo's quirk never fails. If he says to keep heading towards Aruba, then I'm going to continue to head towards Aruba. You need to trust in people's ability sometimes, Captain," Mr. Compress explained, although it sounded as if he was belittling me.
"Mateo? Are ye talkin' bout that Spaniard's son? He be what? 16?! Why would I be trustin' in his ability?!" I scoffed. Mateo Guerrero was a teenaged boy who was sold to us in St. Augustine, Florida by his own father, a man very similar to Lisander. The Guerrero family was known for their strength and no British soldier, or any for that matter, dared even look in the direction of a Guerrero. Rumor had it that they would invite you to a "civil dinner" and the women would poison your drink so you wouldn't see the men coming to slit your throat. Mateo's family were brutal killers, but also highly respected. They owned acres upon acres of land and were one of the most powerful families of New Spain. Mateo's father was a bit different from Lisander though in the fact that he wanted strong children. Mateo didn't have a strength-related quirk like his father or a deadly one like his mother, his quirk received the name of "Sea Whisperer". When Mateo explains his quirk, he sounds like he has gone mad. Supposedly, his quirk allows him to hear what the water hears. I'm not even exactly sure how he does it, for I try not to associate myself with children, but Mr. Compress has promised me that Mateo can track anyone who has travelled on or through the sea so long as he has something that has touched the creature or object he is searching for (kind of animalistic if you ask me). Lisander was able to give us and old garment of (Y/n)'s, so that was already taken care of.
"Mateo!! Come over here and tell the Captain what you've been telling me!" Mr. Compress shouted across the ship towards the young boy, interrupting my train of thought. The rugged-looking rich boy looked up at me and hesitated before turning away from the water and approaching the two of us. His dusty blonde hair was an iconic trait that ran in his family and it made him stand out from most of my crew, for Toga was the only other blonde. He had deep brown eyes that looked as if they had hidden many lies— he just seemed so untrustworthy.
"Hello, Captain, is there something you would like me to speak to you about?" He asked politely, looking me dead in the eyes and not blinking throughout the entire sentence. His presence was just so off-putting and I couldn't understand why Mr. Compress had taken such a liking to him.
"Tell the Captain about where the girl, (Y/n) (L/n), has gone," Mr. Compress elaborated and waved the boy on.
"Oh, that's all? She's headed towards Aruba with another ship at the moment," Mateo said matter-of-factly. I squinted my eyes at him and tried to get a good read on him, but to no prevail. His face was like stone— he showed no emotion.
"And how exactly do ye be know'n this, lad?" I asked.
"The sea told me."
"The sea told you?'
"The sea told me."
"That's really all yer goin' to be tell'n me now? I could kill ye with the touch o' me hand, I wouldn't be hold'n back any information now if I were ye," I threatened, smirking at my power.
