??? POV

"Hey Captain... did you hear the rumors?" A young, but serious looking man whispered to the pirate captain walking next to them as they boarded their ship.

"What rumors?" The captain quickly inquired.

"She's gone."

Y/N's POV

My legs were very heavy and didn't want to move at my command. Blinking slowly, I looked around at my blurry surroundings. It was cold, very cold, and I was completely alone. I began to take a deep breath to keep myself from panicking, but wasn't met with air, rather water. I waved my arms gently and realized I was underwater— at the bottom of the ocean to be more specific. It was too dark to make out any signs of life. I shivered and hugged myself to try and stay warm. I looked down and noticed that I was wearing the same nightgown from the night Lord Bakugo kidnapped me.

As I grew colder and colder, I decided I should try and make an effort to swim up. With all my strength, I thrusted my arms from high to low in hopes of moving up and out of the water. I kicked my legs, only to have them trapped and rendered immobile by my stupid nightgown. The more I tried to swim, the tighter the gown clasped against my legs. I slowly began falling away from the light above and back down into the dark abyss. I eventually hit the cold sand at the bottom, once again, and collapsed. I wanted to cry, but every tear was swept away by the surround water.

"Why are you wearing that funny thing?" An unfamiliar voice asked. I struggled to bring my head up from the ocean floor, looking for the source of the voice.

"Who said that?" I asked, my voice much quieter than I intended.

"Why me, of course. I'm the only other being here," the voice stated bluntly. Suddenly, flashes of fiery red and pearly white passes my vision. I focused in on the flickering object and made out a fish-like tail.

"A fish?" I thought out loud.

"Partly. But also part human, like you," the creature explained, finally coming fully into view. I could make out the shape of what looked like a boy with the tail and fins of a koi. Red and white blurred together, preventing me from making out any specific features.

"A merman? I thought they were just folklore," my voice began dying away.

"There is much in the world that you do not know, for you keep yourself trapped in that silly gown," the merman vaguely smiled before beginning to swim away.

"Wait!" I tried to yell, but it barely came out as even a whisper. "What does that even mean?"

As he swam farther away, his image faded, but I heard him call out one last thing,

"Find the one who will set you free."

I bolted upright, gasping for air. I swished my hands around my blankets, making sure I was no longer underwater. I caught my breath and threw off my blankets, still feeling trapped in that stupid night gown. I looked down and was relieved to see that I was wear linen pants and not any form of dress. I kicked my legs up and down, just to make sure the fabric wouldn't close in on me and trap me forever— it didn't. I sat up with my legs in front of me and noticed an image forming on my left ankle. I pulled up my left pant leg a bit to better look at the picture. I was expecting a merman, adorned in red and white, but to my surprise that was not the image at all. Three chain links were depicted on my ankle, which was odd because I couldn't recall anything close to a chain in my dream. I shrugged it off and walked over to my wardrobe.

I couldn't help but cringe at each dress I passed. After that strange dream, I just couldn't bring myself to wear one in fear of being trapped again. I put on one of the several white blouses Mina and Jirou had given me, along with a pair of black trousers. Looking in the mirror that was detailed in gold, I frowned. It was so bland. One would think the Governor's daughter could dress herself better than that— the pirates even looked more interesting. I returned to my wardrobe and a long, red vest caught my eye. I slid my arms through and secured it in place with a thick, brown belt of sorts. I returned to the mirror and smiled as I fiddled with the brass buttons of the vest.
