I spun my head to see Delcallon standing close behind me with his eyes fixed on the bolt in the tree. His silver hair fell gently over his eyes, and his face seemed placid. He wore a grey coat with his hands slipped into his pockets.
His crystal eyes slowly drifted down to me and his lips curved up revealing his dimples. "Are you going to slap me again?"
My eyes narrowed and I contemplated slapping him. He had taken off without a word and now he was back as if everything was normal.
Fine. If he wanted to act as if nothing odd had occurred then I could play that game too. I stepped past him and towards the forest so that we could train.
I was a considerable distance when I heard them speak, "I think the silent treatment is worse than being slapped." I heard Laveen's voice whisper. I was certain I should not have been able to hear them. I was far out of their sight by now.
"Well, I'll anger her enough to get a slap eventually," Delcallon whispered back before his footsteps approached me.
I reached the clearing and continued to sit down where I always did. Delcallon stepped to the side of me and stared down at me. His crystal eyes traced over me trying to examine if he would get any type of reaction from me.
I would not give him that.
I pointed to the spot in front of me, gesturing for us to train. My face remained completely hard and toneless.
His jaw tightened and his eyes hardened at my lack of a reaction to his return. I could feel him trying to probe through my firewall, but it was not budging.
He thinned out his lips and shook his head in defeat. He placed himself opposite me and faintly smiled.
"Show me what you have learned, Alinta." He purred out my name trying to get a reaction from me.
I control my body though and only shot him a placid smile as I brought my hand up in-between us. I turned it over so my palm faced up. His eyes traveled down from my face and to my hand.
I clicked my fingers and created a purple flame and then continued to bend the blaze between my fingers. His face morphed into curiosity as he watched the fire flicker between my hand.
"Your powers are developing far faster than mine did." His eyes deepened and his face morphed into concern.
It caused me to break my silence, "Why do you make it sound like a bad thing?" I asked with a harsh tone.
He faintly smiled as if he had missed my voice before turning it into something more serious, "Darkness claimed me when I was two hundred years old." He reminded me, "It took years to learn how to expel it." He brought his hand next to mine and created a ball of darkness. A black void next to my bright flame. "it took ten years for darkness to engulf me."
My flame went out and I snapped my eyes to his. I leaned back and took in a breath, "That means I will get engulfed far sooner." I realized out loud.
He sucked his darkness back in and nodded slowly. I wished I was stronger than this, wish I did not begin to panic, but my head started to boil and my heart rate sped up.
I rapidly began tapping my fingers to my thumb as means to anchor me down from the attack.
"Alinta."
I looked up at him and realized how everything in my body was tense. I sucked in a breath to try and calm myself.
His crystal eyes were gentle, "We will get you an anchor." He promised me with a soft smile.
