I winced in disgust and shifted my body away from him. "I did not need to know that," I argued as I focused on the fire again.
"Male Elementals all have enhanced smell." He added causing me to release a brief of annoyance.
"Again, I did not need to know that," I stated as I shook my head.
He chuckled out as he continued to sip on his soup. I stared at the flames as I finished my own bowl.
"Is that why I can hear heartbeats?" I looked over at him, "Do female Elementals have enhanced hearing?"
He looked into my eyes and shook his head, "No." He shifted on the chair to get more comfortable. "That would be your Oblivion power activating." He smiled at me.
My face morphed into a soft surprise as I shifted into a more comfortable position as I faced the King of Pretonas. "Oblivion power?" I asked.
He nodded as he put the bowl down on a table next to him, "You are a tracker Alinta." He stated as he stretched his arms out behind him. "That is why you have enhanced hearing, and that is why you are able to feel where a cloaked one is, or where someone may teleport to."
I placed my bowl down before I stretched out my legs to rest them over Del's lap. "I was not trying to use any power," I stated.
He nodded as he placed his one hand on my ankle and traced it lightly, "You wouldn't." He tilted his head to the side, "Your Highvarion power is an Element that you have had to learn to control and tame." He began with a knowing voice, "Your Oblivion power would be like learning to blink." He stated with a breath, "It would be completely natural."
I smiled as I looked at him. I looked at his fingers tracing the skin of my legs. The action felt natural too. Like blinking.
His hand rested on my foot as he continued to speak, "Eventually you will be able to track a person based on their magical footprint." He smiled over at me as his thumb brushed over the top of my ankle.
Goosebumps broke out over my leg causing me to look away to hide how flushed I felt. His finger continued to trace my leg anyway, ignoring my reaction to his touch. I stared at the flames as I tried to remember why I did not want to concede to my growing feelings for him.
Because I was not going to fall for someone just because of fate.
I looked over at him as he stared in the fire too. His face was placid and his breaths heavy. He was still the most beautiful person I had ever laid eyes on. He was gentle and considerate. He was strong, and he was compassionate. I felt like I could be myself without any fear of judgment with him.
I shifted my body, removing my legs from his lap and moving onto my knees. His eyes snapped to mine as he traced over my actions. His heart was already racing In his chest.
I moved close towards him and he completely froze as I straddled him, by placing myself on his lap. My thighs rested on the side of his hips, as his hands slowly lay on the sides of my hips.
I stared down at his glowing mercury-colored eyes as I brushed my fingers across his cheeks. He closed his eyes as he savored my touch.
I continued to trace down his jaw, and down his neck before tracing his shoulders. His muscles tensed to my touch as his breath shallowed. His fingers began to trace up and down my thighs sending goosebumps out over my skin.
His eyes stared at me in awe and a hint of fear, as if he was afraid he would make a wrong move and scare me away. It was a sweet expression to see on such a powerful man.
