Del's head slowly snapped towards where Eskar was standing to watch as he slowly uncloaked himself.
He stood with his arms folded over his chest wearing a proud smirk. "Hello, Princess." He purred causing a slither to run down my spine, "Your tracking powers have improved." He shrugged as he began to casually move across the room.
I looked back at Carian to examine his expression, his heartbeat. He did not appear shocked or even afraid. I began shaking my head, "You are working with him?" I spat.
Carian looked at me through lowered lashes, "For a brighter future." He stated with a stern tone.
I rolled my eyes and looked at Delcallon who was still standing with his hands in his pockets. He tilted his head and narrowed his eyes, "Are you aware he tried to kill your sister?" He asked with a curious tone.
Carian's face saddened and his lips pursed, "I am." He gulped as I glared over at me, "But he was punished."
I creased my face as I looked over at Eskar who was nodding slowly in confirmation. Not that that proved anything, Eskar lied about what color the sky was.
"How?" Delcallon asked with an amused tone,
"By the King of Pretonas." My brother answered with a strong tone as if he was somehow going to overpower Del.
I shook my head and glared at Eskar, "He lied to you brother." I snapped.
Delcallon bobbed his head in agreement, "I have no recollection of punishing him." Delcallon stated as he glared at my brother. If Carian did not know who Del was, he did now, "Although I would gladly punish him again," Del shrugged, "I will ensure I make it more memorable this time." He practically purred.
Carian turned on his heels and strode towards his throne, almost completely ignoring Delcallon.
"Not you, you idiot." Eskar barked with disgust. "The New King of Pretonas." His lips curved with pride, "The one who actually deserves it."
Carian leaned back in his chair as he rested his chin on his hand as if he were bored. "Him?" I asked with an amused tone. "He has not done much to deserve that throne," I stated harshly causing my brother to narrow his eyes at me.
"No." Eskar snapped as he looked down at us from the dais. "Someone who went to hell and came back better the other side." Eskar stated with an evil smirk, "Someone who saw Fate and Elements control people's lives."
"Someone who always disagreed with how religion controlled the monarchy." He shrugged as Delcallon tensed, "Someone who saw our system for what it was. A failure."
I looked over at Del, his lips were parting as his face washed over with realization. He knew who Eskar was talking about.
"Del?" I asked as I stepped towards him. His heart was racing through his chest, if Elementals could have heart attacks, I was sure he was about to have one.
He began shaking his head, "No." He muttered.
Eskar chuckled out, "Yes."
I looked between them as I tried to read my Intwined. "Who is it?" I asked reaching for his arm to try and anchor him back.
He looked down at me and the pain that was engulfing his eyes was far too much for me to even stare at.
Light spread across the room causing me to squint and hide my eyes away from the source of the light. Delcallon's arms were swift in protecting me against any attacks if any came. He wrapped me into his chest and shrouded me.
