I landed with a crash as I fell out of the shadows. My body toppled over as the silver that stuck out of my body was still forcing its way into my bloodstream. I needed to get them out, now. The one in my chest was the main worry.
The banging sound of steel against wood caused me to look up to see my sister standing by the door with her sword out. She looked over her shoulder at me and her eyes widened, "This was not part of the plan." She growled as she stormed towards me, referring to the bolts in my body.
She was not gentle, but when was Dorica ever gentle.
She ripped out the first bolt out of my chest causing me to release a growl before she swiftly moved on to the next.
I kept my eyes on the door that vibrated and cracked after each bang. "Where is Brallon?" I asked with a worried voice. Brallon was not there, on the dais where those who betrayed me stood, he was somewhere in this castle, on our side. He had been the one to call out to me and told me the castle was under attack.
Dorica shook her head as she pressed onto my shoulder where blood trickled down. "He was taken."
I shook my head in a mixture of anger and disappointment. We should have told Brallon about the plan, I should have trusted him. He had been by my side through it all, but so had Laveen...
Alinta and I knew the chances of us returning to the castle were bleak if they were trying to trap us in the Utohian palace. In the best-case scenario I would get out us of there through my shadows, but that became impossible when they pointed their crossbows at Alinta.
But my Dragon, oh my Dragon stepped straight into plan c, skipping bloody plan B because it is Alinta. And once Alinta makes a decision, there is no changing her mind.
"Where is Alinta?" Dorica asked as she helped me to my feet.
"With Laveen." I spat out in anger.
"Laveen is safe?" Dorica asked with relief.
I looked down at my sister and watched her slowly put together who the Leader of the Rebels was. Who the new King of Pretonas was? Laveen, my best friend, and the man who had always been Dorica's older brother.
Dorica's eyes filled with tears that she swiftly wiped away, "Did Alinta get captured?"
"No." I shook my head as I thought about the moments leading up to leaving Alinta in the castle.
I was in agony, my blood was being poisoned but all I cared about was that Alinta had just collapsed onto the cold marble floors.
Yarris was the firs to rush towards her with a panicked gaze, her brother close behind him. They still cared for her.
Del.
I kept my face placid as I heard the flickering sound of my Intwined's voice in my mind.
Alinta, what are you doing?
Astral projecting.
Yes... I gathered, but why.
Del, they are going to kill you. You need to leave.
I watched as Yarris pulled the lifeless form of Alinta onto his lap. Laveen slowly strode towards her as they continued to examine her.
I am not leaving you Alinta.
There is no outcome, where we leave together. Either you stay and die, or you leave and save your sister.
I need to save you. - I growled into my mind.
I can save myself. You know that.
I clenched my jaw. I did know that, I just wished she did not have to.
They will not kill me, they need my blood.
Laveen knelt down to Alinta's body and pressed his fingers into her pulse. "She is alive." He stated sternly.
They will kill you though Del. - She continued.
You need to leave Del. Let me do what trackers do.
I shook my head in disapproval of this plan. Laveen looked over at me with his auburn eyes flickering gold. His grip on his blade tightened.
I love you, Delcallon.
Before I say it back she was gone. She had seen the glare Laveen gave me and knew it was time for another distraction.
She groaned out as she came back too.
"She fainted," Yarris called out causing Laveen's eyes to snap to her.
I looked at the door as it began to crack under the pressure as the Rebels called out from behind the door.
"What is she doing then?" Dorica asked as I began to pull enough energy to allow the shadows to engulf us. We needed to get out of the palace now.
"She is taking a page out of your book." The shadows began to whisper to me, informing me where the safest place would be to go to. "She is spying."
