September 9th 1984

You pulled into the school parking lot, shoving the gear into park before frantically grabbing your things and stepping outside into the crisp September air. Were you late? No. Did you feel late for some reason? Yes.

Your shoes slightly scraped across the ground as you shuffled to your locker, squeezing past the flirting classmates and chattering crowds of people. You rolled the combination on your lock and swung the door open to reveal papers upon papers folded just slowly fluttering to the ground.

"Fucking make-up work." You grumbled, setting your bag down as you picked up all the scattered sheets.

That summer you had been gone to an academic summer camp...unfortunately in the area it was located, school started in September, meaning that you would be stuck there even though your classes had already started.

Thankfully, your best friend got the work for you and shoved every last assignment into the metal box for you to retrieve later. You stood up, adjusting your sweater before finally calming down enough in order to take in your surroundings.

It was time to listen to the morning gossip.

Keeping silent, you started hearing mutters of people talking about a new kid. You couldn't quite make out the name, but it was a boy and based off the amount of whispers, he was quite a boy at that. You shrugged it off, new people were rare and very rarely stayed because of how bitchy some people at your school could be.

Getting your books for first hour, you closed your locker and made your way to your first period class, only to find your best friend standing right outside the door with shades on over his eyes.

"Steve Harrington. You look so stupid wearing sunglasses indoors."

You realized he was probably dozing off, because when you spoke his head jolted up and he looked in your direction as a smile came to his face.

"Well, well, well, look who's back from smart-ass camp." He teased, resting the shades in his poof of hair as you leaned against the wall beside him. "Yeah, yeah...like I had a choice. You know my mom likes me to do the extra curricular stuff."

You looked around and raised a brow as your eyes looked back up to Steve, "Where is dipstick one and dipstick two?" You questioned, Steve suddenly losing all joy as his shoulders slumped. "With the new kid. Didn't you hear?"

You scoffed and nudged his shoulder, "Harrington, they are like leaves. A single gust of wind takes them someplace else..." Steve ran a hand through his hair, eyes staring at the wall across from him.

"You don't get it. You haven't met this guy."

You took a firm stance in front of him, his eyes lowering to meet your stern face as your hands went to your hips. "Well I'm not going anywhere. So fuck the new kid! I'm your best friend Steve, you can't get rid of me like Tommy and Carol." A small smile tugged at his lips, but before he could reply, the bell rang out and the teacher opened his door.

You pushed Steve inside of your first hour which was begrudgingly....math.

You took your seat behind the boy and listened as everyone was still talking about this new kid, especially the girls. They were talking about how hot he was and their plans to get him to notice them.

"Ehem!" Mr. Mundy sputtered out, gaining the classes attention. "I'm sure you all heard the bell because you are here right now. That bell means it is time for class, so I expect you all to act as such!...Anyhow, it is time for attendance."

People continued to whisper as the teacher called names, your eyes landing on Steve whose head was down on his desk. Kicking his chair and leaning forward, you muttered, "What the fuck is happening to our school?"
