The weekend had gone and passed leaving it to be the second most dreaded day of the week. Monday. Going back to work, school, whatever happiness you had was flushed down the drain as alarm clocks blared at 6 a.m.
Billy pulled up in his blue Camaro, revving the engine a few times for emphasis that he, had in fact, arrived. Max quickly got out of the car and ducked her head, not wanting to deal with any stares or looks she would get.
It was rather early for him to be at school, usually he would only beat the clock by a measly few minutes, but this time he was 35 minutes early for class. Why?
Neil.
Billy turned off the car, tossing his keys into his pocket as he got up and out of the car. The few girls who were at school this early fawned over him, but with a simple wink and smirk, he walked away.
Billy tugged open the school doors, looking at a few of the students sitting on the floors. They were usually a bunch of losers that stuck to themselves, who in their right mind would be here this early purposefully?
He trudged down the halls, making his way to his chosen elective as it was his first class, but he stopped when he heard music coming from one of the rooms.
Walking over, he peered through the glass pane and saw his science teacher setting up for the week. Oh, yeah...he had said something about space on Friday.
Billy opened the door, watching as Mr. Smith stood on a desk and finished tying Saturn to the ceiling. Looking around the room, he noticed the rather complex set up he had going on. The planets of the solar system were hanging from the ceiling as a few diagrams and other pieces were placed around the room.
"Mr. Hargrove...I believe you are in the wrong class." Mr. Smith said, surprised to see him so early in the morning. "Just wanted to see what the hell was happening in here." The blond replied, walking around the room and looking at the small papers on everyone's desk.
"There is a group project due on Wednesday. You will all be assigned partners today at random."
Billy groaned, tapping two of his fingers on the table as Mr. Smith got down and paused the music. As soon as he did, the class door swung open and hit the wall, both of them turning to see you excitedly standing there.
"Oh. My. God! This is so cool!" You threw your bag down and walked around the room, not even noticing the other two people in the room. Billy watched as you excitedly fawned over the different planets. You were so energetic for 6:30 a.m, it was...fun.
"Pluto! My favorite! And you too Jupiter!" You said, looking toward the lagest planet hanging in the middle of the room.
"Why is it your favorite?"
Your eyes followed the voice and you saw Billy standing a few feet away from you. "Oh, uh which one?" You didn't want to be a bitch, he was asking a simple question.
"Both." He replied, leaning on one of the desks and waiting for your response. "Well, Pluto is cool because it is so small and kind of defies what we think of when we say a 'planet'. It is tiny compared to everything else that it is almost comical."
You slightly turned to look over at Jupiter. "Jupiter is the king of the roost though. If its mass were any bigger though it would completely shrink...so we use Jupiter as a reference for units to measure other gas giants' masses."
"As far as we know right now, Jupiter is the biggest a gas giant can get mass-wise before collapsing in on itself and becoming smaller." Mr. Smith added.
Billy didn't really understand how that worked, but nodded anyway, watching the smile stay on your face. "Let me show you something really cool." Mr. Smith said, closing the curtains and walking over to the lights and flipping the switch down.
