November 13th 1984
You were sat on your bed reading a book and listening to 'I Ran' as you tapped your foot to the beat. Humming along to the words, you lost track of where you were and had to start the chapter over once again.
Groaning, you tossed the book to the side and rubbed your eyes. You were extremely bored, after the events a few days ago, it was odd pretending everything was normal again.
Steve had covered for you saying that you two were hanging out and just weren't home when your mom happened to call. The other kids all had covers from you as to where they were, so their parents didn't even question it.
"(Y/n)!"
You perked up as your name was called from downstairs. Standing up, you opened your door, "Yeah mom?" You shouted downstairs, hearing the boiling of water as she was making dinner for later that night. "Someone is on the phone for you."
You jogged down the stairs and went to the phone in the basement so you wouldn't have to talk over her cooking. "Who would be calling right after school on a Tuesday?" Instantly, your mind went to the kids, and when you picked it up, it was exactically as you expected.
"(Y/n)! Can you come to the arcade with us?!" Will said excitedly through the phone. He still had to have a chaperone with him most of the time for now, but Joyce did say that you counted as a main supervisor.
Needless to say, he much preferred you over his family who already asked him about it enough. Ever since they got that thing out of him, he had been absolutely fine. No more visions, nightmares, or anything of the sort. It was like Will was back.
El was also around too. She had a cerfew of 6 o'clock and she could only go out on weekends. While she did have a birth certificate, Hopper was still cautious, but more agreeable with her.
"Which house are you guys at?" You asked, hearing the kids shuffling to get ready in the background. "Mikes!" Will replied becore muttering something to Dustin.
"Okay, I'll be there in 10. Be ready please."
And oh boy were they.
Max, Dustin, Mike, Lucas, and Will all barreled into your car, piling in like wild animals. "Buckle up or I'm not moving!" You said, turning to look at Dustin and Max specifically who had a bad habit of not buckling up.
"Fiiiinneeee." They groaned, throwing on their seat belts before you drove off. It was chatty and loud, but you quite enjoyed the company. It was fun being with all the kids, you knew as time went on Mike would spend much more time with El...so you tried to make it worth it for all of them.
Once you arrived, you threw the car into park and followed all of them inside. You were immediately interrupted by Keith, who was eating his usual cheetos puffs.
"Oh, hey Keith." You said, glancing to Max who was the only one that seemed to notice. "Hey..." He started awkwardly, Max popping up out of nowhere and grabbing your wrist. "Hey uhm, I need you to help me with this...thing?"
You quickly nodded and dismissed yourself, internally sighing and thanking Max profusely. "Boys are gross." She said, getting on a game as you stood behind and watched. "Agreed." You said, looking around and spotting Will with Lucas.
"So...I'm assuming you haven't talked to...you know." She said, your eyes looking down to her as you leaned against the side of the machine. "No. Do I have a reason to?" Your tone slightly rose, thinking that Billy pulled some shit with Max. But to your surprise, she shook her head.
"No! No...it's just. He's been a bit off since that whole thing happened."
You shrugged, "I did point a gun in his face." Max won the game, but grunted as she didn't get the highscore and started again. "Billy has had a gun in his face before though. I think he misses you." She smirked, tossing her hair back a bit as she watched the screen.
