You hid behind a tree and looked at the large storm forming over the Brimborn building. A pit was forming in your stomach as you knew based on the human-like screams that something had to be wrong in your world.
Thunder and lightning cracked in the sky, the red clouds seeming even more menacing as they swirled in a never-ending circle. With a small breath, you stepped back, refusing to go any closer to the building as there were a multitude of demodogs and demogorgons surrounding the structure.
Quietly making your way back to the cabin, you avoided certain areas that seemed to grow more infested by the day. As you neared your make-shift 'home' you cursed to yourself as a small herd of demodogs paced the area, seeming to become suspicious of it once again.
Looking around, you knew you couldn't stay out in the open, so decided to head to town to see if there was a place for temporary shelter. Being sure to watch your step, you pressed your chapped lips together and breathed through your nose as you peeked around corners.
Little did you know however, that while you had diverted your course to the arcade, Hopper and Joyce had both returned to the cabin after encountering the large Russian named Grigori. Both paths completely missing the opportunity to cross as you analyzed your options.
You saw that the school was heavily guarded, but the arcade seemed to be vacant enough. You quickly ran through the empty street, avoiding the bright lights and making it into the building. You went into the back room, locking yourself in the small area before freezing when you noticed a demodog asleep on the ground.
You only had your knife and pistol with you...one of which wouldn't pierce the skin, and the other which would give away your location. The thunder roared outside, nearly shaking the building from how loud it was.
Unless....
You thought, quietly setting down your bag and pulling out the gun, aiming it at the dog's head. You watched out the small window as the storm rolled on, your eyes waiting until a flicker of light presented itself. As the lightning flashed, you waited a second and fired the gun, the two shots being covered by the loud noise of the storm.
The dog whimpered and fell limp, the lifeless body somehow terrifying you even more. Unlocking the door, you grabbed the dead dog and pulled it out before closing yourself in the dark room once more and slightly coughing before sniffing back a sneeze.
You sat down on the floor, leaning your head against the wall and closing your eyes. A small smile crept onto your face as you wandered to your happy place, seeing your friends and family before Billy's warm hand encased your own.
He pulled you in for a hug, the thumping of his heartbeat sounding so real you swore he was with you in that moment. But you knew it wasn't reality, surprisingly you being stuck in this landscape was your reality as of the moment.
Despite knowing that, you pushed the thoughts to the back of your mind, focusing on Billy and his warmth. His hands on your sides as they trailed over your body, his lips pressing to your skin as he muttered sweet words that only you would ever hear.
The way his blue eyes would flick to you and say a thousand words that could never be formed. How the smallest smile would start to form on his perfect lips as he knew you had read his mind for the millionth time...
It was all surreal. You started to wonder if you took all those times for granted as well. Just assuming Billy would always be there, that he would never just disappear. You shuffled the sleeve up on your arm just a bit to reveal the small bracelet he had made for you.
Your heart fluttered and in that moment you were more determined than ever to make it out of the upside down alive. Because there was nothing in your world or this one that could keep you and Billy apart.
