December 17th 1984

Billy tapped the cigarette again, taking another puff of it as he looked around the school parking lot. Tired students pulled themselves from their cars in an attempt to wake up for the dreaded Monday mornings.

However, you were late.

It was five minutes until the first bell rung and your car, along with you in general, were nowhere to be seen. Billy tapped the toes of his boot on the ground as he finished off the cigarette and tossed it to the ground, shoving his hands in the pockets of his denim jacket.

From across the way, he had spotted Steve whom he would normally ignore, but since Billy had to deal with his father all Sunday, he didn't get to see you at all.

He walked over to the brunette, originally shocking him back a bit before he sighed. "Jesus dude, could you not walk towards everyone like you want to beat their faces in?" Steve complained. It was quickly ignored by Billy though as he jumped right to buisness.

"Where is (Y/n)?"

Steve rasied a brow, "Why the hell does it matter so much to you?" The blond groaned and clenched his jaw, "Just answer the damn question Harrington."

"I don't know man. I haven't seen her." He finally admitted, listening as the bell for the start of the day echoed across both campuses. Without another word, Steve walked away but Billy stayed there until the final bell rung, an uneasy feeling making it's way to his chest.

There was a very good reason for that feeling, but Billy didn't know why until you came barging through the doors of your fourth hour looking like a complete wreck.

Your eyes held dark circles underneath them and your mouth was solidified into a frown. Clothes were ruggedly pulled on as you trudged in in wet converse from the melting snow. You set a tardy slip on Mrs. Clicks desk, everyone staying silent as you made your way to your seat and sat down, putting your head on the desk.

Billy studied you from his spot further in the back. While you hid your face in one arm, the other was bent so your hand could rub a single spot on your scalp.

The whole class you didn't move, not to raise your hand and outsmart the other kids, not to ask a question, and certainly not to look up at anyone.

Once the bell rang, it was like a race. You and Billy both bolted out of your seats, the boy physically shoving some kid into his desk to move him out of the way. You had already sprinted out the door with Billy not far behind.

Stepping out into the crowd of people, he spotted you rounding a corner outside and quickly made his way over. "Move out of my fucking way!" Billy yelled, the sea parting for him as it usually did, the stressed boy following out the doors and jogging to catch up with you.

Billy called your named and reached out to grab your wrist. "(Y/n)! Where have you be-"

"Ow!" You yelped, pulling your arm away as you turned to look back at him. He could see it now, you had been crying. Eyes red and puffy, cheeks stained with tears as your breath was still ragged.

"What the hell happened babe?" Billy questioned, gently taking your hand this time and looking at your bruised wrist under you slightly rolled up sleeve. "I-I..." You couldn't speak your body was in so much pain.

Every ounce of you hurt and ached like you could barley hold yourself up. His sharp blue eyes widened, "You were at your dads...weren't you?"

You only nodded, feeling your stomach contract as him not feeding you was starting to kick in rather hard. Billy looked around, making sure the coast was clear before enveloping you in a large hug.
