"God, your ancestor was a capitalist? Sheesh, Technoblade."
"If you don't shut up right now, there's a pick axe with your name on it."
Fundy tuned out the sound of Quackity and Technoblade arguing. He had no idea why he had even agreed to this in the first place; he'd been gone for so long, he barely understood most of what everyone else was talking about. An Egg? Blood vines? Fundy didn't know, and frankly, he didn't want to know.
Technoblade had brought a bunch of them to his 'childhood home', which originally belonged to... a capitalist? A millionaire? Whoever the original owner was; Sir Billiam III was very, very rich.
Fundy still had no idea why so many of them were brought here, but as he wandered around, he stumbled upon an open corridor. A wave of nausea hit him, and his vision flashed.
Suddenly, there was a plain-masked boy leaning over him, a sword in his hand, with eyes glowing bright red. The sword swung down, and Fundy blinked, reeling back and nearly falling on the floor.
What was that?
"Fundy?!" Quackity called, and he decided to just stick with the group from now on. Sure, it was annoying, but he'd take that over... whatever the hell that was.
"Coming!" he called, and left the corridor behind without so much of another look back.
"Damn, this place is big," Quackity whistled. He swung his hands with Sapnap back and forth, with the other clasped tightly in Karl's.
"It's a ballroom," Technoblade said flatly. "And this isn't the place where the egg is."
"No one cares about the egg," Sapnap rolled his eyes, careful avoiding looking at Bad. "Karl, what do you think?"
"Uh? Wh- oh, yeah, mhm," Karl nodded distractedly. He seemed a little on edge, and Quackity gripped his hand tighter. He wasn't sure what made Karl so nervous and fearful, but he wasn't about to stay in some boring ballroom if it made Karl nervous.
"Fine, I guess we'll go continue looking or whatever," Quackity groaned, communicating with Sapnap through his eyes to tell him that Karl was acting off. "Where to next, Technoblade?"
They started heading back out, with him mocking Technoblade all the while, when his vision blacked, and suddenly, Quackity was falling over. He glanced down, and saw a sword sticking out of his body. The wine glass fell from his hand, shattering on the floor.
"-ity!" it took a moment for Quackity to reorient himself, but when he did, he found himself sprawled over the floor, with Sapnap beside him, frozen. Karl was hovering over both of them, worry in his eyes. "Are you- what happened?"
"I don't know," Quackity blinked, glancing around. Bad and Technoblade had stopped at the entrance, and Fundy and Niki were chatting quietly to the side, glancing at them every now and then. "Wh- what did I...?"
"You just started screaming all of a sudden," Karl bit his lip, and worried it. "And then Sapnap did, too. Then you both just... fell to the floor; I couldn't catch you in time so..."
Ah. That was probably why his back hurt.
"It's fine," he winced, just as Sapnap started to wake again, looking around in dizzy confusion. "Let's just... let's just continue. Sap, you alright?"
"What the fuck..." Sapnap whispered, and said no more.
If Quackity had paid attention to Karl when he was focusing of Sapnap, he would've seen the shadowed look that passed over his face.
"This is weird..." Niki murmured, following just beside Fundy.
Originally, she hadn't wanted to come with Techno. But Phil and Ranboo were busy with something about marshmallows and campfires, and her curiosity got the better of her.
It was like something was drawing her to this mansion, for some inexplainable reason.
"Where are the others, anyway?" Niki asked Fundy, as they took a turn to a different room, this one with a hole half-hidden in a top corner. Distantly, she could hear Bad and Techno talking about one thing or the other.
"I'm not sure," Fundy frowned. "Hey, Niki, do you-"
Niki didn't hear more of that, because her vision spun, and she looked down at her... blood-splattered... dress?
"Sorry," she heard someone say, their voice sounding surprisingly familiar, and not in a good way. "But the Egg demands nourishment. I can't control this, I'm sorry."
She glanced up, and only saw the gleam of a sword before her vision spun again, and she found herself stumbling, almost falling over if it weren't for Fundy's help.
"What?" she murmured, dazed and dizzy.
"Shit, you too," she heard Fundy mutter. Had he gotten a vision like that before?
There was a rumble coming from somewhere, and both of them froze.
"...this was a bad idea," Fundy whispered, and Niki couldn't help but agree with him.
There was a bright red flash from the room through the tunnel, and Fundy and Niki only had a moment of calm before a red vine burst through the hole, and a scream started ringing out.
