Car rides home are either peaceful or chaotic, depending on the scenario. Car rides home after any sort of meeting is always chaotic.
Tommy's phone has been buzzing for the last five minutes, and he should probably mute it and the notifications that are probably coming from some of his other siblings texting him about where he is, but honestly? It makes him giggle every time it buzzes; take that, you time-wasting, embarrassing siblings!
He sits next to Luke and Wisp, while Deo sits at the front seat, and Bitzel drives the minivan. Behind, he can hear the laughter of Tubbo and Ranboo, the latter of whom is the kid they may or may not have kidnapped.
Is it still considered kidnapping if the person in question is homeless and has willingly come along? Probably not, now that he thinks about it more.
Still, the minivan is oddly quiet in the minutes after they've picked up Ranboo.
Then, Deo takes out the aux cord, and like a switch, the atmosphere goes from quiet to chaotic.
"Lovejoy! Lovejoy!" Tommy and Tubbo chant, while Deo scrolls through his Spotify playlist. "Lovejoy, Lovejoy!"
"What's Lovejoy?" Ranboo pipes up, and Tommy snickers as three different people answer at the same time.
Taunt starts playing, and everyone in the minivan instantly cheers. With more enthusiasm than he had during the Parent-Teacher Conference that quickly turned into Tommy's Siblings Threaten the Teachers Conference, he starts singing along to Wilbur's recorded vocals.
With Wilbur and his band's moderate success in their band, they can be able to get enough money to fix up the orphanage a bit, maybe even buy some more beds and all that. Technically, some of them should've moved out by now, but they've all been together ever since their lone orphanage caretaker died, and they all simultaneously decided to hide the body and make the orphanage their home.
Well, it technically isn't an orphanage, so he should probably stop referring to it like it's one. It was an orphanage, but it isn't anymore.
They still get the funds from the government as if their home is an orphanage, though, and for that reason alone, they all pretend that it really is an orphanage.
Which does remind him that they do actually need to let the rest of their siblings know about Ranboo. He has a feeling none of them would take to Ranboo showing up suddenly nicely at first.
"Wisp, can I borrow your phone?" Tommy raises his voice over the loud and slightly off-key singing of Deo, Tubbo and Luke to Dream's songs, the ones that have gotten weirdly popular over the past three months.
"Take your own," Wisp refutes, leaning away from him as Tommy reaches over to try and grab for it.
"Why can't I have yours?"
"Because your phone is right there?"
"Well, yeah, but I don't want to look at the messages."
"I don't want to look at the messages either, so tough luck," Wisp huffs.
Tommy opens his mouth, and pauses. A thought pops into his mind, and he leans back, shifting back to his original position. "I mean, if you insist on telling the others about Ranboo, alright then."
"...fuck you."
Tommy laughs, the sound barely heard over the screams of 'CHOKE ME LIKE YOU LOVE ME BUT YOU HATE ME' from basically everyone in the minivan.
Eventually, Wisp does actually call one of their siblings.
"Hey Phil," Wisp says before Phil, apparently, can say anything. "We've kidnapped someone. His name is Ranboo, and he's apart of the family now."
"You what?" Phil speaks up, alarm in his voice.
"It's okay! He came with us willingly!" Tubbo says cheerfully.
"Also, he's homeless," Luke adds on. "And we do have space at home, don't we?"
Light chatter and banter fills the air once more, as the song changes to a favourite of Tommy's — all i need by khai dreams. The excitement and energy from the morning and afternoon must've caught up to him, because he can feel his eyes growing heavier, and his body relaxing.
He listens to Ranboo shyly saying what he'd like for himself, and who's room he wants to share with — which turns out to be Tubbo and Tommy's room, located just to the left of the second floor of their home. He exchanges seats with Luke to be able to lean on the window while Luke fights with Wisp to get to his phone. In the front, Deo and Bitzel plays some sort of word game to decide where they are going to stop at for snacks.
All in all, it's a rather nice atmosphere.
Tommy falls asleep to the quiet bickering and laughter of his siblings, both the ones on the phone call and in the minivan itself, and really, he wouldn't have it any other way.
