*** Akali POV ***
Stopped on the way out of our apartment, Eve stops me before I could make it far. She tilts her with an arched brow - her expression asking the question 'where do you think you are going?'
"Where I usually go this time of the week," I state.
"Don't worry dear I won't keep you long," she steps aside, "I heard you got family in town."
I groan though I fail to suppress my annoyance of his sudden appearance, "No. Not family. Why are you asking Eve?"
She shrugs as she purses her lips, "Can't I be a little bit curious? Besides I just want to make sure whoever this individual is that he doesn't turn into a problem you know?"
I shake my head at her, "He won't be. Even if he does I can handle him with ease," I then avert my gaze towards the door as I almost tempt myself to just break free from this confrontation.
She steps aside, "I won't keep you any longer. Don't stay out too late tonight okay?" she smiles at me.
I return the smile, "Sorry and thank you."
I didn't think it would hit me this badly, I am just so annoyed that he is STILL taking after me. Why? He probably got his hands on the title and then didn't know what to do with it. Or someone replaced him just as quickly.
Ugh, just stop thinking about it already.
It is very very rare that anyone gets on my nerves. Especially this way. It is mainly because we have a history of wanting one-upping each other. I smirk to myself - as if he ever was ahead of me.
I shake my head again - whatever. We weren't friends back then so our exchange earlier should be enough to keep him out of my life. It was always something either their expectations or him walking in my shadow.
Cuffing my fists I grind my teeth together - why am I this angry?
I shouldn't be. I should just give this kid a break.
Saving myself the trouble of spending too much time thinking about it I forget the thought almost as quickly as I found new energy about myself as I look forward to what is in store for tonight.
A pretty long drive later and I find myself at the usual spot. Somewhere I love to be every Wednesday night. Not really because of anything special but it is an awesome place to just be yourself and bond with dozens of people.
A close family with a lot of branches that don't shy away from planting new saplings - that is what D would call it.
I use one of the few entrances as I park my bike outside. As soon as I am spotted I was greeted instantly by a number of familiar faces.
"Good to see you are on time girl," he smiles at me lifting his fist towards me.
"You think I'd stay away long this time?"
"Nah, was thinking more about it is time we show off and see who is the better rapper this time around," he smirks at me, "What do you say?"
I shake my head, "Not tonight. Got some plans with the usual group, maybe next week?" my fist connects with his.
He shrugs, "Welp there's no helping it no is there. Enjoy your night Akali, and tell D he still owes me!"
As I pass him I call back, "You know he isn't good at keeping his promises," I then turn back as I wear my smile.
Greeting groups and groups of people as usual. On my way to find D. He is pretty much here every night. His family started holding these get-togethers every night and it just happened to turn out into the best places to find yourself caught up in.
It is often that you see a new face being forced upon the stage - though not as often as before because a lot of people started running away the moment they realized what we were doing.
So now we just do it in surprise.
I spot him at the bar and swiftly make my way over to him, though to my surprise there was someone already next to him.
Wearing a smile, "Hey, D! Glad to see you are always early? Who is this?"
"Oh, a new face. This is (Y/N) and she is Akali, The Rebel from K/DA."
WHAT A HORRIBLE SURPRISE! I couldn't stop my expression from changing into pure disappointment.
"Oh... you..."
D naturally doesn't pay attention to my remark and turns back to (Y/N), "See? Looks like the right group stole you before the rest could."
He should have let them steal him!
I stop myself from saying anything and just drop next to D with a scowl.
"What with the face? I hope you don't mind bringing in somebody new," he whispers to me.
"It isn't about it being someone new but that someone new is someone who I know from my past," his eyes widen with realization and I respond with a nod.
He then turns back to (Y/N), "Would you excuse us? I have something to discuss with her, should be back soon."
(Y/N) responds with a nod as he returns his stare to in front of him.
"I am so sorry, I didn't know he would be one of them," he tilts his head, wearing his 'puppy eyes', "Honest."
"Just forget about it for now," I rub my brow.
"On the other hand, he is not what I expected them to be. Any of them actually - and from what he said you are nothing he claims you to be," he furrows your brow, "If he is the person you are talking about."
"What did he say about me?" I press him for information.
He lifts his hands in defense, "Calm down, girl. It is pretty much the same shit you said about him. Were the two of you in love and decided to-"
"Please do not go on with that sentence," I am in so much emotional pain right now.
"Okay, so you two weren't dating?"
"Never. I would never let that happen and he would never think anything of the sorts about me."
"Okay, I am sorry. Okay? So what do you want to do? Just leave him here and we regroup with the rest?"
I look past D to see (Y/N) stare blankly in front of him. God, why is a part of me feeling sorry for him? He had to look lonely, agh! Alright - alright...
"We can't just abandon him now considering that you already invited the kid," I sigh, "He can come with us for the night."
"I am sorry," he then offers me an apologetic smile, "Tell me this at least.
"Yeah?"
"From what I have experienced with him so far and how good I know you... maybe you two remember the past differently from what really happened?" he then quickly lifts his hands in defense, "I am just saying, he seems like a decent dude."
"Far from it," I mutter, "Just forget about it. We can move on from this yeah? I am dying to get out there."
He smirks at me, "Everyone is out back. Want me to get him and then we go?" taking a while to answer he then says, "I can still call it off with him. Make an excuse you know?"
I consider it but then decide against it in the end.
"Just let him come with... what's the worst that can happen?"
A question I know the answer to already.
