We are about an hour away, but as the human body would have it I really needed a bathroom break so we stopped at a nearby gas station which is probably fortunate seeing as she was pretty much pushing on until I stopped us.
It is still cold as shit though - I am starting to think I may have under-packed.
I notice her coming back to the bike, with a sigh she hands me a cup of coffee, "Looks like we are going to have to spend the night somewhere."
"So... we are not pissing them off the moment we get there?"
She laughs, "Don't worry. If we waltz into their territory arm in arm that alone will probably be enough to make hell freeze over."
She turns around resting her body against mine, "We probably need to think about our plan of action then, unless you feel like driving for another twelve hours."
She groans as I wrap my arm around her, "I am already pretty tired, but as far as them I don't want to think too deeply about it. At this point, we just walk in tell them where to stick it, and then ask if we can get a room to bunk in for the night."
I narrow my eyes, "As much as I would like to do that, it would be a terrible idea."
"We are technically already doing that," she then smirks at me, "Mother dearest is going to flip, though I imagine she would be able to hide it for a little bit considering that I actually came back."
"And the rest?"
She tilts her head to the sides, "Does it matter?"
I shake my head, "Not at all. Just for the sake of picking your brain. Though I guess we are going to have to sit through whatever happens."
"Not much choice I am afraid," she then turns in my arms to face me, "So, what are you going to do?"
I arch my brow, "Get my shit and tell Shen that I am done. I would tell the rest but honestly, I don't think there is much to gain from that at all."
She lifts herself to steal a kiss, "How about we just see what happens and decide from there on out?"
"Sure."
She then pats me on the shoulder, "We should get going before it gets too late."
With a nod, I jump on the back as we hit the road again. We drove for forty minutes only to realize that the road ahead isn't exactly paved and driving on it would probably only damage her bike so we hopped off and pulled it through on the dirt path.
Rather safe than sorry, one slip and then one of us will be decorating the trees with a shade of crimson.
She sighs, "Should really have remembered that one of the only paths to the temple is this shit."
"I mean... I thought you knew," she shoots me a glare and I only laugh at her, "At least we might just meet a scouting party and then the rest can ready themselves in anticipation."
She then looks at the trees around us, "Strange how nobody hasn't come to greet us, or at least didn't stop us from coming this far."
"Well," we both lock eyes, "We both know we are being watched."
"What? Us? Being watched by members of the Order? Never?"
I then smirk at her, "Right? Besides the two Fists of Shadows would never be able to tell that we are being stalked at all."
She snickers, "That means we know you are there dumbass."
Nothing.
"Are they pretending that we don't know they are there?"
She lifts her shoulders, "Dunno," than shooting her gaze around us, "Or maybe they think this is all a bluff."
"I thought it was?"
"How did you become the Fist of Shadow?"
"Extremely hard work. The moment you left I stopped a world-ending threat and got instantly promoted," I then roll my eyes, "Shoulda been there."
"As tiresome as ever," a group of three appears in front of us, "It might have been too much to hope that you would just stay away," he then looks at Akali, "At least you managed to do something right."
She tilts her head towards me, "Who is he?"
"Our successor," I state, "Last time we fought for the title they stopped the trial before he got hurt. So I guess he had the backing but just not the skill to take it from me."
She smiles at me, "Oh? I wonder if we had to fight for the title if I would be able to steal it from you."
"You are terribly out of practice-"
She arches her brow, "Though still in shape, I might just surprise you-"
He then interrupts us, "Don't tell me-"
We reach them, pushing the bike past them without stopping, Akali then only shoots them a glare. They follow us close behind with not much to say, the two of us occasionally shoot each other a glance.
Akali then asks, "Don't you have someone to report to?"
"Is my presence really that troublesome to you?" he asks, "Or would you rather control your little shadow in your own lonesome? Funny how even now-"
"He likes to hear himself talk," I warn Akali, "I am sure you could tell."
She wears a cold expression, "I would rather him not speak at all," her gaze wanders to meet his eyes, "At least my little shadow could compete with me since the start."
"That why you ran away? Couldn't bear with the humiliation?"
"Like you? Your padded ego must still be hurting."
"You b-"
I rest my eyes on him, expressionless, "Say it," I tempt him.
"The Kinkou Order and its people are slaves to tradition and gave up their right to freedom a long time ago. But don't take my words to heart," she returns her gaze in front of her, the muscles in her jaw tightening, "It is just your turn in the sun, wait till they strip that from you."
He bares his teeth, he gestures to the other two and they disappear from behind us.
I then grumble, "Damn. He really didn't say it."
"If this is the start I can only imagine the worst that is still to come," she sighs, "Well, I guess it isn't that bad considering I can direct my anger towards someone other than you."
"Your little shadow agrees," I flash her a smile.
"My little shadow has been a little bit of a pain in my ass," she rolls her eyes.
"He is sorry."
"You aren't really convincing anyone," she purses her lips.
