People don't seem to realise how important the RAF was for the allied victory, so I will tell u why it was so essential.

So, to understand this, we need to look at the time from 1940 to 1941, the time inbetween the Fall of France and the bombing of Pearl Harbour. Britain was the only major superpower that stood against the axis at that time, and since neither the Soviets nor the Americans were actively fighting yet, the TR only had to defeat Britain and they would have won the war. Since they couldn't fight on the water in the canal, the battle of Britain was mostly fought in the air, and this is were the RAF comes into focus.

The RAF was greatly outnumbered by the Luftwaffe, but despite a year of nearly daily bombing of the coastlines and the RAF facilitys, the british didn't surrender, and came out of most of the battles with much less casualties.

In September the german air fleets were ordered to specifically bomb british cities, the most bombed was London, but especially the heavy industrial cities in the north like Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, York and Birmingham (even tho it's not in the north) were bombed aswell. The city with the heaviest casualties was Hull with about 90% of all houses destroyed. Even though that was pretty much the worst thing for the people, the RAF could reorganize, now that their bases weren't under constant fire and launched a counter attack, which worked and drove the germans out, crushing their plans of an successful invasion. And I guess u know the rest...

In conclusion, if it weren't for the RAF, the axis would have won the war way before the US and USSR joined in, so tell all ur WW2 obsessed friends that always argue about whether America or Russia saved everyone and won the war single-handedly, that what they're saying is bs and that they should educate themselves more on what happened before may 1941 :)
