🥥 forty one

it was chilly, the smooth breeze pushing through hyunjin's blond locks. he sighed as he looked over the campus, the sun slowly setting in the horizon as the sky grew darker and darker. he'd had quite an eventful day to say the least, and now he wanted to just take a moment to himself. everything was so confusing; felix really did like him? deep inside, he had hoped that felix was happy being just friends, but that wasn't the case.

he leaned his arms on the railing, looking down at his shoes as he let out a deep sigh. he was contemplating on calling minho again, hoping that maybe this time he would answer, but his hope was slim at best. he watched as the phone so desperately tried to reach the other, but was upset to see it fail. what could minho possibly be doing right now? where could he be?

"you're not gonna jump are you?" a voice said from behind, making hyunjin whip around to see a short male with raven black hair, an unlit cigarette poking from his mouth. "'cause if you are, go to a different building; i don't want you to cause me any trouble." he then lit his cigarette, walking to stand beside hyunjin.

"i uh... i'm not gonna jump..." hyunjin said nervously, not sure of the guys intentions. "i was just thinking, i guess." he glanced over at the male, who seemed like he wasn't taking much notice of him, staring out at the campus while taking puffs from his cancer stick. the two stood in silence for what felt like forever.

the raven haired male threw his cigarette on the floor, stomping it out before turning to hyunjin. "name's changbin," he said simply, extending his hand out to the other male, who took it cautiously. "y'know, thinking is a dangerous sport. let it out," he continued, earning a confused look from hyunjin. changbin rolled his eyes. "like this... i'm in love with my best friend and he's too oblivious to notice. see? just let it out."

hyunjin stared wide-eyed at the shorter male before erupting into fits of laughter. "wow, more like you're too much of a wuss to tell him," he teased, earning an angry look from the older, who smacked him upside the head.

"for your information, i have tried to tell him on multiple occasions. its just everytime i do, he doesn't listen." he ended his sentence with a frown, turning back to stare out over the campus, leaning his arms on the rail as hyunjin had done previously.

hyunjin sighed, turning so his back was leaning against the railing with his arms crossed over his chest. "the guy i like keeps giving me mixed signals, but there's also another guy that has outright told me that he likes me but i just cant get the first guy out of my mind," he ranted, burying his face in his hands.

"have you told the first guy how you feel?" changbin asked, turning to face the younger male with a raised eyebrow. hyunjin stared at him through his fingers before looking away and shaking his head slowly, making changbin laugh. "damn, who's the wuss now?" he teased, earning a slap from hyunjin as he had done before.

hyunjin crossed his arms over his chest. "it's not as if i'm too scared to tell him. i mean i lied about him being my boyfriend because i was jealous of my ex's boyfriend, and they we kinda... you know," hyunjin trailed off, not exactly wanting to shout it out for the world, but changbin got the idea. "but i woke up this morning and he was gone, and he isn't picking up his phone. i feel like i've done something wrong or he didn't enjoy it last night and now he's ignoring me."

changbin scoffed. "i'm pretty sure if he didn't enjoy it he would have left straight away. maybe he's been caught up in some family business? one of my friends always ignores us for like a day because of family stuff, so don't worry too much," he said with a shrug moving away from the railing and slipping another cigarette into his mouth, leaving it dangling between his lips. "about the other guy, you should be upfront with him. don't lead him on if you don't intend on making anything out of it."

hyunjin watched as changbin lit the cigarette, breathing it in. "you should be more upfront with your friend. i'm sure if you sit him down, he'll listen to you," he said, giving the shorter male a small smile before walking away from the railing as well and walking towards the stairs. "you never know, he might give you a chance."

the raven haired male chuckled. "you should take your own advice," he said, walking as hyunjin gave him a small wave and left down the stairs.

i've been catching up on my
coursework for the past two
weeks and haven't had much
time to write but i will try to
get another chapter out this
weekend. have a great day/
