the two sat side by side on a bench outside the front of the hospital, not saying a word to each other as they both directed their eyes straight forward. it was awkward to say the least, seeing as the last time they had spoken, it was less than polite. when chaeyoung said she wanted to talk, minho felt a wave of guilt crash over him, and after the way he spoke to her, he felt that she deserved her own say.

"how did you know i was here?" minho finally spoke up, but didn't avert his eyes away from the ground to meet hers as she looked over at him.

"i went to your house first," chaeyoung started, her hands folding over each other as she fumbled with them. "your mum was there, she told me about minhee. she said you were with her so i came here. i'm really sorry."

at this point, minho did look back up at her. "sorry for what? that minhee is in hospital? that you cheated on me with my friend? that you broke up with me out of the blue? what are sorry for?" he questioned, much like an interrogation. he didn't want to have another outburst like last time, but he sure as hell wasn't going to just let her off lightly.

he could see the tears brim in her eyes as she looked away, her body shaking ever so slightly as she began to cry. "everything," chaeyoung said. "i'm sorry for everything. i'm sorry for what i did with jisung, and i'm sorry for lying to you. i shouldn't have done it, and i now see that it was a big mistake." she finally looked back up at minho, leaning slightly closer to him as the tears conitnued to stream from her eyes. "please forgive me!"

he looked at her for a moment, taking some time to admire her features. it used to be one of his favourite pass times, just staring at her face and picking out all his favourite things about it. but at this moment, all he could think was 'what about hyunjin's face?'. was she as beautiful as hyunjin was to him? after everything he had gone through over her, now that she was finally coming back to him, all that filled his mind was someone else.

"i'll forgive you, but we can't go back to how we used to be," he said, his tone dropping off at the end. chaeyoung looked at the floor for a brief moment before looking back at minho, only this time she had leaned much closer to him. he looked away from her, feeling the girl's breath fan over his neck.

"minnie, please, i know you still have feelings for me," she said softly, inching closer with every second that passed by. minho was confused; of course he still loved her, right? he had wanted her back since the first moment she broke up with him. he should happy right now, sweeping her up and carrying her off into the sunset.

so why was hyunjin stuck in his head, the scene of said male calling him his "boyfriend" replaying in his head constantly. is that what they are? he had told hyunjin countless times that they were nothing serious, that hyunjin meant nothing to him, but the truth is that minho cared too much. hyunjin had engraved himself onto minho, and he wasn't going any where. he had helped him twice already when it came to him lashing out over chaeyoung, and what did he repay him with?

heartbreak.

he was used to it by now, like it was a regular occurrence. it wasn't really, but he felt so used to the pain. he felt as if he could just forget about it because he had known it all too well. in fact, he hadn't felt it more than now, more than this moment. seeing him, with her, it was enough to make his blood boil and his heart crack. he was tempted to waltz over there and tell her to piss off, but minho didn't need any drama, not while his younger sister was in hospital.

hyunjin took a deep breath, closing his eyes and making sure he was calm before he tried to approach the two of them. but as he opened his eyes, he had wished he kept them closed. the male watched in horror as the two connected lips, minho's hand moving up to caress her cheek as she wrapped hers around him. how dare she, he thought, how dare she touch him like he was her's. one thing hyunjin came to realise was that minho wasn't his either, no matter how much he prayed that minho wanted the same as him.

the male blinked away the tears that threatened to fall from his eyes; he refused to cry over minho. he wouldn't let him have the satisfaction of making him upset, even if he didn't know he was doing it. hyunjin turned and left the hospital, not wanting to stare at the two for a second longer than he needed to. he felt ashamed of himself; after worrying about minho the whole day, wondering where he was and why he left, he was dumb enough to let him crawl back in, when he didn't like hyunjin really, he didn't care.

it wasn't long till he finally made it back to his dorm, and only now did he let the tears fall, cascading down his porcelain cheeks, staining them with the salty liquid. hyunjin couldn't hold it in anymore. he thought he had finally found someone who cared about him after seungmin, someone who actually wanted him, but he was wrong, he was so wrong. minho was right, he was just there when he needed someone.

he was just a rebound.

the male reached into his pocket, the crinkle of the plastic packet sounding as he pulled it from his pocket. the sachet sat in the palm of his hand, his eyes widening at the sight of it. he knew it was wrong, and he was aware if everything he had gone through to be where he was now. he knew of the consequences, he knew all too well.

but he wanted to feel free. he needed the euphoric feeling the drugs gave him, and the way they could make him forget everything that was bothering him. he had no worries or cares in the world, and that's how he wanted it to stay. with every line, he felt it course through him, taking over him, making him feel better than he ever had before.

he felt free.
