"hey yeji, uh i'm sorry for not calling back sooner. i guess i've just needed some time to... to think. how are you? how is school? obviously you're doing well and getting good grades; you were always smarter than me. how about dance? is mum letting you pursue it? you're really talented, so much more than me, and you should really consider going pro. anyways, i'm getting off track. i'm flying back tomorrow, so i thought i would call to let you know. i don't know if i'll come back home, but i'm coming back to korea. i can't wait to see you again, yeji. bye."

hyunjin looked up at the tall doors, their shiny black coating looking gloomy under the grey clouded sky. it looked like it was about to start pouring with rain, but that was of no concern to hyunjin. he just wished he had the courage to open them. he didn't exactly want to have to come home, but he needed to get back on his feet and find somewhere else to stay first. he hoped his parents allowed him to do so, or things may just get a little more difficult.

he took the key from his pocket, a deep sigh leaving his mouth as he reached forward to insert the key into the door. hyunjin tried to turn the key, but it didn't let him. why didn't the key work? did they change the locks? it took him aback; he didn't think that they would do such a thing to keep him away. that was until an unfamiliar car pulled up to the house.

hyunjin turned quickly, a panicked look on his face. he watched as a young couple got out of the car, followed by two small children. they looked up at him in worry and caution. "who are you and what are you doing here?" the man said, taking small steps towards hyunjin as his wife holds onto the two kids.

"i live- i used to live here," hyunjin said after a short pause. "how long have you been living here?" hyunjin then asks, obviously realising that his family no longer lived here, and they hadn't for a while.

"about five months," the man said hurriedly. "now can you please leave?"

hyunjin took a deep breath, looking down at his feet. he felt devasted; his family had just up and left his childhood home, a home filled with so many memories, and they didn't even think to tell their own son about it. not even yeji reached out to him, and instead she ignored his calls just as he did hers.

he was a fool.

minho sat in the driver's seat of his car, his hands gripping onto the steering wheel tightly. he was still sat in the car park, not knowing whether to march back upstairs to hyunjin or to do what he said. he was so conflicted by such a choice that it made him frustrated. he hit the wheel three times with both hands, cursing out loud before he rested the top of his head on the top of the wheel, taking deep breaths to try to calm himself down.

he heard a small knock on the passenger side window, his head shooting up to see who it was, startled by the sudden noise. he let out a breath he didn't realise he was holding when he saw it was only seungmin. he unlocked the door, the younger then opening it and getting inside, closing the door after him. "hey minho, hyunjin's not in the right state of mind at the—"

"no," minho interrupted, keeping his eyes trained forward. "i did this. i pushed him away, i made him feel alone, i made him feel like nothing. i used him to get over my ex girlfriend and didn't even stop to think that maybe it was becoming more serious than that. i was too stupid to realise that i actually have feelings for hyunjin until i saw him passed out on the floor. i didn't realise how much i had hurt him until then either." minho didn't want to cry, but he didn't have the energy to stop the tears that pricked at his eyes.

there was a long pause before minho continued. "i missed my sister's funeral to be with hyunjin," he confessed, not being able to hold back the tears any longer as, one after the other, they cascaded down his cheeks. "when she was in hospital, i left her alone to see hyunjin, and then they had to rush her into surgery." he paused. "she didn't... she didn't make it."
