tw: mentions of death
minho waited for an hour before the doctors reemerged from the operation room, their heads hung low. he stared up at them, standing as they reached him. the doctor that had stopped him first approached the young male, whilst the rest of them continued down the hall. the male stood up to meet the doctor, but he could barely meet the young man's eyes. minho could tell what the news was before he even heard it.
"i'm so sorry, we did everything we could but she has unfortunately passed awa..."
everything became blurry. this couldn't be happening, right? it was just a prank, and a very ill timed one at that. the doctor was just joking. he was gonna say 'sike!' and minhee was gonna come right out of those doors all happy and smiley like she always was. it felt numb, he couldn't move an inch of his body as he just stood staring at the doctor in front of him. he could see his lips moving, but he couldn't hear a word.
he doesn't remember when he got home, or when his mother had even got to the hospital. he didn't remember how he had managed to get to his bed, to be in his pyjamas. everything was numb. he felt no pain. he felt no sadness. he felt no loss. he felt nothing, like all feeling had just left his whole body entirely, leaving only a dark emptiness that engulfed his very existence. he felt numb.
hyunjin trudged out of the lecture room, his hands deep in the pockets of his black hoody. he sniffed, rubbing his nose with the back of his hand as he pulled the hood over his head, his blond locks covered by the dark fabric. he was glad that lecture was over, because he felt drained. the male hadn't slept in days, constantly out either drinking or taking some form of drug. the combination of the two never had a good outcome.
as he walked, he peered into the head of the dance department's office to see a familiar face, one he hadn't seen in quite some time. he wasn't sure how long ago it was seeing as all the days moulded together into one long nightmare. in actuality, it had been two weeks. but seeing minho in that office was heartbreaking. it brought back all the hurt he had made hyunjin feel, and he didn't want to feel it anymore.
hyunjin continued down the hallway, hearing a door open behind him and then hard footsteps getting closer to him. his pace sped up, eventually leading him out of the building as a hand held onto his arm, whipping him round to see the last person he ever wanted to see. minho stood there in all his glory, though he didn't look glorious at all.
he was pale, dark bags hanging from underneath his eyes. he looked like he hadn't slept in weeks, his face drained of any life or emotion. "hyunjin..." he croaked, his voice sounding dry and scratchy. the male looked like he was on the verge of tears, and somehow, hyunjin felt sympathy for him. he felt pity. "hyunjin, i wanted to say—"
"save it minho," hyunjin interrupted, not once meeting minho's eyes. "i don't want to hear your worthless apologies." he turned and carried on walking, ignoring minho's calls for him to stop. he glanced up at the clouds; it looked like it was gonna rain soon, so he had to be quick if he didn't want to be caught in it. he was sure yugyeom would already be waiting for him and he never like to be kept—
without warning, the male was spun around and slammed against the nearest wall, and hyunjin could have sworn it was like deja vu (stan dreamcatcher). he looked over at minho with a surprised look, the older looking down at his feet while his hands resided on either side of hyunjin's head. he was breathing heavily, his body heaving up and down as he took a deep breath in and a deep breath out.
"why weren't you there?" he said in a quiet voice, sounding almost defeated. hyunjin could hear the sadness in his voice, but he was going to hold his ground.
hyunjin cleared his throat. "well it seemed like you had all the company you needed," he retorted, no sympathy or kindness in his voice, only bitterness. but deep down in his heart, he wanted to let minho right back in, because minho made him feel something that nobody else could. he made him feel like after everything that he had gone through in his life, it was all okay because minho was there.
it was a shame hyunjin couldn't be the same for minho.
minho slowly looked up at the male, his eyes brimming with tears as he looked at the younger with a confused look. "what are you talking about?" he questioned.
hyunjin scoffed, rolling his eyes at minho's stupidity. "really? so you didn't kiss chaeyoung at the hospital?" he said, pushing himself away from the wall slightly as minho's posture faltered.
"wait that's why you didn't come? oh my god hyunjin, that kiss meant nothing," minho attempted to explain, but hyunjin wasn't having it.
"and i'm supposed to believe that?" he said, sass pouring from his voice as he stared minho down. "you been practically begging her to take you back this whole time, and now when you finally get her back you decide 'well hey, this pussy has expired' and completely ignore all the times you pushed me away?" hyunjin shouted at him, letting his anger run free.
minho gulped. "hyunjin, i'm sorry. please i'm so lost. i don't know what to do. minhee, she's..." he sobbed slightly, his eyes falling to his feet. "you're the only person i think about now, and i don't want to lose you because of some silly kiss that meant nothing to me. so please, hyunjin, please... don't leave me!" by the end, the tears were streaming down minho's cheeks, staining them with the salty liquid.
hyunjin sighed, placing his hands on minho's wet cheeks and pulling his face close to his and placed his lips softly onto the older's. the kiss was short and sweet, and minho melted into it right away. he dreaded it when hyunjin pulled away, and he wished he would kiss him more.
hyunjin laughed lightly, shaking his head. "come on minho," he pushed the male away, stepping past him and walking a little ways away before turning back down to face minho again. "it's like you said; this isn't anything serious." and with a grin, he turned tail and walked away.
