Taj Mahal stands on the banks of the River Yamuna in India. Yamuna is a name derived from 'Yama' meaning 'twin' as she flows parallel to River Ganga meeting at Sangam.
Yamuna is a lonely river.Oh quiet, so quiet,
even whispers echo thrice,
when young lovers make false promises,
promises to live and die,
like the emperor and queens of dreams,
building fake castles,
like a white monument of love.Their undying love,
their quiet place of privacy,
shattered by lovers trying to love,
if only lovers knew,
that love comes, but at a price;
that heart craves in memories,
only after it dies.Oh heartbreak, little heartbreak,
your cracked beats whisper thrice,
and echo in these love tombs,
where she lay alone in death,
where he lay alone in life,
white, carved memories,
stacked one over another,
memories over memories,
burnt by anguish and pain,
cemented by sands of time,
in little raindrops of lost tears.Do you hold hands still?
In the secrecy of the silence,
when they let the doors shut,
when they leave your death,
and return to their own love ?Near, yet so far,
lying together, yet not,
its only that one full moon night,
when little beam of light,
joins the imaginary line,
and her soul travels through time,
to be together one more time.
